Fewer Blue Screens of Death: Microsoft has released Windows 10 update with many fixes and improvements

Published

on

Microsoft has released another update for the Windows 10 operating system. Update KB5005611 brings many significant fixes and improvements.

This is an optional update, it is not required to install and will not download or install unless the user manually selects the update and clicks Download and Install. This patch does not offer security fixes, but contains a long list of general improvements and bug fixes.

KB5005611 is available for Windows 10 version 21H1 (May 2021 update), version 20H2 (October 2020), and version 2004 (May 2020 update).

Note that support for Windows 10 version 2004 ends in December and Microsoft will soon stop releasing additional updates.

The update fixes problems with the long-suffering News and Interests widget, Outlook and its settings, audio distortion when recording using digital assistants, and fixes a variety of system crashes, including those leading to the Blue Screen of Death.

It is especially noted that Microsoft has finally fixed an issue that causes applications like Outlook to crash when viewing emails or calendars synced to an account. We also fixed an issue where an Outlook add-in could prevent users from typing a response in other Windows applications.

Among the fixed system crashes, we can note, for example, an error that caused the PC to stop working when the system was restarted after normal use, as well as an error due to which applications on the taskbar might not work if the taskbar is not pinned to the bottom of the screen (default location).

Users in China have a special love for Xiaomi Mi 6: many still believe that the company has not yet released a flagship that can replace this model. As a result, users still have a fairly large number of Mi 6s in their hands, which means that there are enough devices for experiments. The pictures below show the result of such an experiment.

One of the users managed to install Windows 11 on ARM on Mi 6. Of course, the system does not work super fast (the OS loads for more than a minute, some menus inside the OS itself take several seconds to load), but in general, Windows 11 on Mi 6 is quite efficient.

Google released the Android 12 operating system for ordinary users, just a few days ago. It can be installed by users of the branded series of Pixel smartphones – starting with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, which debuted in 2018. In the meantime, the first reviews have appeared on the network, and not all of them are positive.

Pixel users have faced a number of annoying issues after installing Android 12 on their smartphones. Some people experience regular crashes despite repeatedly resetting the settings to the factory state. For others, applications crash and stop working, and on an ongoing basis, which is accompanied by freezes. For some, the camera often crashes, for others – a variety of applications in a random way.

There are problems with unlocking smartphones using face recognition, the smartphone simply ceases to “recognize” the user. There are also complaints about the battery draining too quickly.
