The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ended this week, in line with a 2019 law designed to protect communications networks, by naming five Chinese companies as national security threats.

These are Huawei Technologies, ZTE, Hytera Communications, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology and Zhejiang Dahua Technology.

The 2019 law requires the FCC to identify companies that manufacture telecommunications equipment and services “that have been determined to pose an unacceptable risk to US national security.”

FCC Names Five Chinese Companies As National Security Threats

Acting FCC Chairman Jessica Rosenworth

FCC Acting Chair Jessica Rosenworcel said: “This list provides meaningful guidance to ensure that the next generation of networks across the country does not repeat the mistakes of the past and does not use equipment or services that pose a threat to US national security. or the safety and security of Americans. ”

The 2019 law used criteria from the Defense Authorization Bill, which previously identified five Chinese companies. An August 2020 ordinance barred U.S. government agencies from purchasing goods or services from any of five Chinese companies.

In 2019, Huawei, Hikvision and other companies were blacklisted by the Department of Commerce.

Last year, the FCC named Huawei and ZTE as a threat to the national security of communications networks. In fact, this is a ban on American companies from using funds from a state fund of $ 8.3 billion to buy equipment from these companies.

In December, the FCC finalized regulations requiring carriers with ZTE or Huawei equipment to replace that equipment. At the same time, US lawmakers approved the allocation of $ 1.9 billion to finance the program to compensate for the corresponding costs.

But Intel only managed to release competitors for the Threadripper 5000. Asus confirms that the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 will be released in the second half of the year

Interestingly, he mentioned this in a video demonstrating the work of the Intel Sapphire Rapids WS platform, the processors of which are currently competing with the Threadripper 5000, but soon they will have to compete with the Threadripper 7000.

Threadripper 7000 will switch to a new socket and a new Zen 4 architecture. This will bring them support for DDR5 memory, probably PCIe 5.0 interface. In addition, the top-end Threadripper 7000s are expected to be 96-core, just like their sister Epyc Genoa.
