Facebook, which owns the social network of the same name, as well as Instagram and the WhatsApp application, has confirmed that all three services have crashed. According to Downdetector.com, for more than three hours, these networks and their mobile applications have not been available to tens of thousands of users around the world.
Potentially, problems can affect tens of millions of people.
According to Downdetector.com, the global outage occurred after 6 pm Moscow time.
Facebook posted a message about the crash on Twitter. “We are aware that some cannot access our apps and services. We are trying to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for the inconvenience caused,” the company said in a statement.
We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

WhatsApp and Instagram also confirmed the crash with messages on Twitter.
The reasons for the failure have not been reported, but some experts suggest that it may be a problem with the DNS servers that Facebook uses. DNS servers are sometimes compared to the address book of the Internet; they direct individual web browsers and devices to the servers that contain the information they need.
New York Times reporter Ryan Mack tweeted that not only Facebook services were out of order, but also its internal communication platforms. “No one can work. Several people I spoke to say it’s like a ‘snowy day’ [that is, when no one of the workers can get to the office due to heavy snowfall],” the journalist writes.
Not only are Facebook's services and apps down for the public, its internal tools and communications platforms, including Workplace, are out as well. No one can do any work. Several people I've talked to said this is the equivalent of a "snow day" at the company.

According to the New York Times , which cites unnamed Facebook employees, a cyberattack is unlikely to be the cause of the crash. “This is because the technologies that run applications for mobile devices are different [from those used for web versions]. Therefore, one hack is unlikely to affect all platforms at once,” – said in the publication.
Competing social networks began to sneer over Facebook’s problems. “Hello to almost everyone!” – wrote “Twitter” in its official account. “Hello! Have a nice Monday,” replied Instagram, accompanying the post with an emoji with a concerned face.
Hi and happy Monday 😵💫

A similar comment was posted by the Reddit network.
This year, DNS server issues have already led to massive shutdowns of several internet sites. In one case, it turned out that the outage was caused by a customer of a large cloud storage service provider changing their settings, causing a programming error that affected a huge number of sites.
Such problems can usually be fixed quickly enough, but this time the problems on services owned by Facebook have been going on for more than three hours.
“Facebook failures occur quite regularly – noticeable problems occur approximately every six months,” a representative of the Croc Cloud Services company told RBC. “Recently, we encountered service unavailability due to CDN outages. But it was a local incident. Now we are talking about a global accident. This version is confirmed by the fact that resources were not available for residents of various regions – from the United States and Argentina to Europe and Russia. ”
About 2 billion people around the world use Facebook alone every day.
How to quickly cancel an unsuccessful WhatsApp status: the function is already available in test mode
The team of the popular messenger WhatsApp has begun testing a new convenient feature for users of the Android mobile application.
The beta version of WhatsApp for Android under the number 22.214.171.124 introduced the Undo function, which allows you to quickly remove an unsuccessful status sent by mistake or typed with typos. Compared to regular deletion, this is a faster way to remove a status if it was sent by mistake or unplanned.
Normal status deletion will continue to work as well. In addition, WhatsApp will show an alert after the user cancels their status.
Currently, the ability to cancel statuses is available only for devices running on the Android platform. IOS users may have to wait a few more days. When the innovation will appear in the stable version of WhatsApp is still unknown.
No more restrictions: Google Play Store installed in Windows 11
A few days ago, Microsoft opened to the public a long-awaited feature in the new Windows 11 operating system in test mode – the ability to run applications created for the Android operating system.
But even the beta test launch turned out to be very limited – only for test participants in the US and only for 50 applications.
Enthusiasts could not come to terms with this injustice. And so, the developer ADeltaX reported on his Twitter page about the found way to install Google Play services and the Google Play store in the Windows Subsystem for Android. In essence, this opens up the possibility of installing almost any Android application on a Windows 11 computer.
Although the project is detailed on GitHub. Immediately, we note that it is not intended for beginners, therefore, if you do not know exactly what and how to do, then it is better not to risk it.
Recall that Android applications can run side by side with regular Windows applications, multitasking is supported with switching between applications using the Alt-Tab key combination, displaying in Task View (Task View), the ability to pin applications to the Start menu and the taskbar, display notifications in Action Center Windows, the ability to use the clipboard between Windows and Android applications.
Windows 11 installed on the iconic Xiaomi Mi 6
Users in China have a special love for Xiaomi Mi 6: many still believe that the company has not yet released a flagship that can replace this model. As a result, users still have a fairly large number of Mi 6s in their hands, which means that there are enough devices for experiments. The pictures below show the result of such an experiment.
One of the users managed to install Windows 11 on ARM on Mi 6. Of course, the system does not work super fast (the OS loads for more than a minute, some menus inside the OS itself take several seconds to load), but in general, Windows 11 on Mi 6 is quite efficient.
The EDK2 UEFI Firmware For Snapdragon 835 was reportedly used to install Windows 11 in ARM for this smartphone. It is also suitable for installing Windows 11 on OnePlus 5 and 5T, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Motorola Moto Z2 Force and LG V30.
