Facebook is testing dark theme on iOS: how to enable it

Social network Facebook has begun public testing of dark mode support in its iOS app. The developers first announced these plans in April this year, and then in June the company began rolling out a new interface for a small number of its users.

Jane Manchun Wong was the first to announce that the Facebook iOS app has a dark theme. She also posted an official promo video showing how the dark interface will look.

The new function has appeared so far only for a small number of users. To check if dark mode is available in your account settings and enable it, you need to do the following:

  • first make sure that the latest version of the Facebook app from the App Store is installed;
  • open the settings by tapping on the corresponding icon in the right corner of the screen;
  • go to the “Settings and privacy” section;
  • find the option “Dark Mode” and select “Enabled”.

Dark Mode in the Facebook iOS app also supports automatic skin changes based on system settings. This is the best option if the user prefers that the application interface theme adapts to the mode that is set on his iPhone.
