Microsoft has long announced the system requirements for a PC to install Windows 11. One of the most controversial concerns the presence of a TPM 2.0 module in the system (or the possibility of its software emulation). But what should users of old PCs do, in which there is neither a hardware encryption module, nor even the ability to reproduce its functions in software? The Universal MediaCreationTool utility is especially suitable for such cases. It can be downloaded from GitHub.
In fact, Universal MediaCreationTool is a much more functional application. It, for example, allows you to install Windows 11 or Windows 10 directly without unnecessary prompts and dialog boxes with the choice of OS version. You can also make an ISO image of the system or a bootable USB flash drive. But the most important thing is, of course, the ability to skip checking for the presence of a TPM module in the system – both when installing the system from a drive, and through a regular update.
Universal MediaCreationTool has been tested for compatibility with Insider Preview builds, but most likely the utility will work with the final version of Windows 11, which will be released on October 5th. You can download Universal MediaCreationTool directly from this link.
Modular computer in the form of a vegetable dryer. Gigabyte showed Aorus Project Cielo
Gigabyte has unveiled the Aorus Project Cielo concept modular PC. The name, as well as the lack of details, do not allow us to say so far that such a serial product will be released. But the opposite cannot be said either.
Project Cielo is another attempt at a modular desktop PC. So far, none of the attempts have been successful, which is understandable by the specifics of the market.
Be that as it may, in this case, we know that the upper block of this computer, which looks like a dehydrator, is a PC itself, on average there can be a battery, and the lower one is a speaker system. That being said, Gigabyte is also talking about built-in 5G antennas. That is, it is also a potentially conditionally portable PC.
For the first time in 11 years of history: Instagram allowed publishing from computers
The Instagram team, part of Facebook, is launching a number of long-awaited features for users. The most anticipated of these is the ability to post to Instagram from computers.
At the moment, on computers, you can view content in Instagram through a browser, but publication is not possible. However, from Thursday, October 21, users will be able to upload photos and small videos no more than a minute in length in the web interface in desktop browsers. Instagram tested the innovation in June and now the release will take place.
From today on Instagram, two users will be able to jointly publish content to the feed or Reels. Collabs will have shared comments, views and likes.
Starting tomorrow, October 20, Instagram will also begin testing a new, simplified way to raise money for nonprofits. A couple of new music features are coming to Reels on Thursday, including 3D lyrics.
Apple announces release date for new Mac OS
Apple today unveiled groundbreaking new MacBook Pro laptops and announced during the presentation the release date for the stable version of its new operating system for computers – macOS Monterey.
macOS Monterey was announced in June 2021. The OS is still being tested by developers and the public. As it became known now, the release will take place on Monday next week – October 25th. It will be available as a free update for all compatible computers:
- iMac – Late 2015 and newer
- Mac Pro – Late 2013 and newer
- iMac Pro – 2017 and newer
- Mac mini – Late 2014 and newer
- MacBook Air – Early 2015 and newer
- MacBook – Early 2016 and newer
- MacBook Pro – Early 2015 and newer.
The new OS offers innovations such as AirPlay to Mac, a redesigned Safari browser with tabs that can be grouped and synced in iCloud between Mac, iPhone and iPad, FaceTime spatial audio, SharePlay for sharing content.
An interesting innovation such as “Universal Management” at the time of the release on October 25 may be inactive. As noted by Apple, the feature will be available “later this fall,” meaning we can hope to launch it before December.
Universal Control lets you use a single keyboard, mouse, or trackpad to work on multiple devices out of the box. The user just needs to move the cursor towards the second device using the mouse or trackpad until the cursor appears on another screen.
