Even higher frequency! Dell to add 480Hz screens to its 17-inch Alienware gaming laptops
Dell has updated its Alienware m17 R5 and Alienware x17 R2 gaming laptops. Now they are also available with displays with a refresh rate of 480 Hz. This applies to models with 17-inch screens and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. True, for this version you will have to pay $ 300 on top of the price of a regular model with a 165 Hz screen.
According to the company, the new display features a 3ms response time, AMD FreeSync support, NVIDIA G-Sync technology, and Dolby Vision.
The Alienware m17 R5 is available in the US for $1,568 and up. This gaming laptop model is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT graphics, up to 64GB DDR5 RAM and two M.2 PCIe NVMe storage slots up to 4TB.
The Dell Alienware x17 R2 is equipped with Intel processors up to Core i9-12900HK and graphics up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. It’s available now for $2,205 and up. Prices for models with a screen of 480 Hz will be 1868 and 2505 dollars, respectively.
Note that other companies are also preparing their laptops and monitors to support this frequency.

Acer has announced the world’s lightest 16-inch laptop. Weight Acer Swift Edge – 1.1 kg

A screenshot from the presentation of Acer, held in Indonesia, has been published on the Web. One of the slides features a Swift Edge laptop (part number SFA16-41). It aims to be the world’s lightest 16-inch laptop.
The declared mass of the device is only 1.1 kg. At the same time, the laptop received an OLED panel with a resolution of 4K and a frame rate of 90 Hz. There are no other details, but it can be assumed that the device uses 12 generation Intel processors.
At the moment, the lightest 16-inch laptop is LG Gram 16 – it is equipped with a screen with a resolution of 2.5K, and weighs 1.19 kg. Obviously, the new Acer will be more attractive, but so far it is not on sale and its cost is unknown.

Retail sales of the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 14 2022 Ryzen Edition in China will start tomorrow, but the device is already available for pre-order. And it’s better to really hurry up, because pre-ordering the device will cost much less. For example, the base version with a Ryzen 5 6600H CPU, 16GB LPDDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 512GB SSD is now available for $800 and retails for $960. The Ryzen 7 6800H pre-order version is $870, retail is $1,035.
Now all the key parameters of the laptop have become known. So, Mi Notebook Pro 14 2022 Ryzen Edition received an OLED display with a diagonal of 14 inches, a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels, a frame rate of 90 Hz and coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. For a model without a discrete GPU, there is a fairly powerful cooling system – with two fans and two heat pipes.
The interface connectors are represented by three USB-C 3.2 Gen 2. The device configuration also includes a backlit keyboard, a 56 Wh battery, and an all-metal case. The laptop is 14.9 mm thick and weighs 1.4 kg. The package includes a power supply with an output power of 100 W.

Xiaomi Notebook Pro 14 Ryzen Edition unveiled with pressure-sensitive screen

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 14 Ryzen Edition laptop, which will be equipped with Ryzen 6000H series processors and an OLED touch screen.
In terms of design, the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 14 Ryzen Edition will be the same as the base version. The differences will be in the processor and the presence of the Thunderbolt 4 interface.
The standard Xiaomi Notebook Pro 14 is equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 SSD. The laptop received a 14-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2.8K, which supports a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a brightness of 600 cd / m2covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
In addition, the notebook features a pressure-sensitive touchpad that is coated with anti-reflective AG glass. There is also a reverse tactile feedback on touch. Xiaomi Notebook Pro 14 Core Edition starts at $870.
The laptop will be released on August 8th.
