Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates have lost a total of about $115 billion over the past five months due to stock market crashes.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk’s fortunes fell by $46.4 billion, Bezos by $53.2 billion and Gates by $15.1 billion. As of Friday, Musk was worth $224 billion, Bezos was worth $139 billion and Gates was worth $123 billion.

Bernard Arnault, chairman of French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH and third-richest person in the world after Gates, has lost $44.7 billion since January. His fortune has decreased to 133 billion dollars.

Much of Musk and Bezos’ wealth comes from shares in the Tesla and Amazon companies they founded. Gates’ stake in Microsoft, of which he co-founded, is now relatively modest. Musk owns a 15.6% stake in Tesla, worth about $122 billion, after the electric car maker’s shares fell nearly 37% this year.

In April, he also acquired a 9.2% stake in Twitter. Musk sold $8.4 billion worth of Tesla shares to fund his subsequent $44 billion takeover bid. Gates has a more diversified portfolio, which has helped him weather the sell-off in the stock market. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the charity he co-created with his now ex-wife, is primarily investing in Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, which is up more than 5% this year.

Technology stocks have corrected sharply in recent months due to inflationary pressures and falling consumer confidence. Musk accused Gates of making a “multi-billion dollar” bet against Tesla by going short.

Bezos, who founded Amazon, still owns about 50 million shares of the company, worth about $115 billion. The stock has dropped nearly a third this year but is still worth almost $1.2 trillion, much more than Tesla’s $786 billion valuation after falling almost 37%.

All the latest data indicates that at least the older smartphones of the iPhone 14 line will receive Always-On Display support.

The long-awaited Always-On Display in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will allow you to display widgets from the lock screen

According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the Always-On Display on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models will allow new widgets created for the lock screen to be displayed on the screen.

This means that not only the clock can be displayed on the off screen, but also the calendar, unread messages, weather forecast, stock quotes, and so on. All that is in the form of widgets for the lock screen. How it will be possible to interact with such data in Always-On Display mode is still unknown.

The older models of the new generation, we recall, are credited with 120 Hz screens that are capable of reducing the frame rate to 1 Hz. This will allow smartphones to consume battery power very economically in Always-On Display mode.

More than 16 hours of continuous work this is

Apple laptops, thanks to Apple Silicon processors, stand out for their incredible autonomy. The latest MacBook Pro 13 based on the Apple M2 SoC is no exception.

More than 16 hours of continuous work - this is the autonomy of the new MacBook Pro 13 on M2

The Verge journalist decided to check how long the new MacBook Pro will last in the mode of a full-fledged working system, when there is no goal to squeeze the maximum autonomy out of the PC.

The test started at 20:00. The author launched a browser with a dozen tabs, Spotify and set the brightness to 50%. Later on, the load on the PC increased as additional applications were launched, including Google Docs, After Effects, Instagram, Swift Playgrounds 4 game, PugetBench, Lightroom and so on. It is also worth noting that from 2:13 to 8:15, while the author was sleeping, YouTube was running on the laptop.

As a result, around 12:30 the laptop still turned off. He worked 16 hours and 30 minutes. The load at the same time quite corresponded to some conditionally average. If limited, for example, to the browser and typing, the laptop will probably last even longer.

Are the recommended prices for modern video cards too high

Current generation video cards have been heavily overpriced almost all the time due to scarcity and demand from miners. Now the prices are getting back to normal, but how normal are the prices that are recommended? The source decided to evaluate how fair these prices are in terms of performance.

The source took the GeForce RTX 3070 as a conditional standard, which, according to our colleagues, is fairly priced if we take 4K resolution.

As you can see, there is an even more profitable graphics card – GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. That is, it offers more than its price of $400. As for the rest of Nvidia’s cards, most of them have not gone far from the standard, offering 90-94% price match. But all high cards are heavily overvalued. The same GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, according to such calculations, should cost only $ 814, and not $ 2,000 at all.

As far as AMD cards are concerned, only the Radeon RX 6800 and 6800 XT can be distinguished here, which are very close to 100%. Also, the Radeon RX 6700 XT has a rate of 92%. The rest of the cards are significantly more overpriced, although no model falls short of the RTX 3090 Ti in this indicator, simply because even the RX 6950 XT is almost half the price.

It is worth mentioning separately that the source only evaluated performance in games, so all calculations are rather arbitrary. They do not take into account the non-gaming capabilities of video cards, the same huge amount of memory in top GeForces, the complexity of GPU and PCB production, and so on.
