Elon Musk announced the inevitability of a recession in the US and the dismissal of 3-3.5% of Tesla employees instead of 10%

Elon Musk traditionally expresses disagreement with the current US leadership. If yesterday President Biden said that he did not consider the onset of a recession in the country inevitable (by the way, Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen and Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm agreed with him), then according to Musk, a recession in the United States will inevitably come at some point in time. He expressed this point of view, speaking via video link at the Qatar Economic Forum.

Elon Musk announced the inevitability of a recession in the US and the dismissal of 3-3.5% of Tesla employees

“I think there will inevitably be a recession at some point in time. As to whether it will come soon, it’s more likely to happen than not”Musk said.

The entrepreneur also commented on the layoffs from Tesla, which was discussed a lot a couple of weeks ago. According to Musk, the company will indeed cut 10% of the staff, but at the same time it will increase the hiring of hourly workers working part-time. Therefore, the total number of Tesla employees will be reduced by only 3-3.5%.

Meanwhile, the first lawsuit related to dismissal from Tesla has already been recorded in the United States. Two employees at Tesla’s Nevada battery manufacturing facility have filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Austin, Texas, accusing Tesla of failing to comply with the 60-day notice period under the Onboarding and Retraining Act. Simply put, Tesla did not notify its employees in advance of the dismissal.
