Eight large cores and none small – is that enough for Intel’s new CPU? Alder Lake CPU benchmark with RTX 2080 graphics card

Desktop Intel Alder Lake processors will be released, according to recent data, at the very end of this year. They will bring a heterogeneous architecture to the desktop segment, and this will be their main feature.

Recall that the configuration of such CPUs will include up to eight large cores and up to eight small ones in different variations. Now we will talk about a processor that will contain only eight large cores – this model will only be available in the desktop version.

The processor was tested in the Geekbench OpenCL subtest along with a GeForce RTX 2080 video card. The 108,068 score itself does not say much, since this is actually the result of the video card, but it can be compared with other configurations with the same 3D card to see whether this CPU was enough for the adapter.

It turns out quite. The RTX 2080’s average score in this test is even slightly lower – around 106,000 points. This means that the test CPU of the new generation does not limit a sufficiently powerful video card and even turns out to be better than most other processors in this matter. Moreover, the tests were carried out by an obviously early engineering sample, which means that serial CPUs will have even higher performance.

Unfortunately, such a test, of course, does not allow to clearly evaluate the novelty in comparison with others, but later this year such tests will also clearly appear.
