Efinix this week announced the expansion of its Titanium line of field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Now it has models containing up to 1 million gates. According to Efinix, the expansion “unlocks the true potential of the Titanium family by making high-performance, high-capacity FPGAs available to the cost- and power-sensitive mass market.”
Titanium FPGAs are said to outperform “traditional” FPGAs in terms of power consumption, performance and area. In particular, the power consumption gain reaches 70%. These FPGAs bring new capabilities to mainstream products, providing density, flexibility, and performance previously only found in expensive, high-performance FPGAs.
The Titanium family includes FPGAs, in which there are from 35 thousand to 1 million logical elements. They are designed for a wide range of applications, from consumer and peripheral devices to automotive electronics, communications and industrial automation. The advantages of FPGA Titanium include the availability of high-speed serial-to-parallel and parallel-to-serial conversion blocks, DDR, MIPI, PCIe Gen4, and others. Efinix Titanium FPGAs are manufactured using 16nm technology.
