DxOMark begins evaluating smartphone batteries
DxOMark has officially announced that it will add a new DxOMark Battery rating to its website on May 10 and will begin evaluating smartphone batteries.
Until 2019, DxOMark was a French laboratory that published reviews of professional cameras and lenses as well as smartphone cameras. However, in the second half of 2019, the agency began evaluating smartphones according to other parameters.
At the moment, the DxOMark website publishes separately reviews of the main and front cameras, tests of the sound capabilities of modern smartphones, as well as articles that compare the quality of screens of modern smartphones.
How DxOMark will evaluate smartphone batteries, beyond capacity and charging speed, remains to be seen.

The iPhone may finally have a feature that was still on the old Nokia smartphones. iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may get Always On Display

Apple’s next generation of smartphones may finally get an important feature that has been on many Android phones for years. It’s about Always On Display.
In the current generation, in older models, Apple for the first time for the iPhone used displays with a higher frame rate. In particular, they can change the frequency from 10 to 120 Hz. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may get screens that can drop down to 1Hz. And this will allow Apple to implement a very energy efficient version of the Always On Display.
Ross Young, founder of research firms Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch, expects such a feature to actually arrive on the iPhone. Also, about a year ago, the appearance of this feature was also attributed to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, but for some reason Apple decided not to do this.
The Always On Display feature debuted on the Nokia 6303 feature phone in 2009, and then became more widespread on the Nokia smartphone with Simbian and Lumia devices.

This year, Samsung again will not be able to get rid of the crease in the new Galaxy Z Fold

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 smartphone may get a less noticeable crease than the company’s current model.
The well-known insider Ice Universe wrote about this, noting, however, that the fold is still visible. The novelty will be better than its predecessor in this matter, but will not be able to completely get rid of the crease, as Motorola was able to do in its first flexible smartphone.
The wrinkle issue on Samsung’s foldable flagships comes up every year, and every time this problem remains unresolved. At the same time, sales are actively growing, so, apparently, for the majority this is not a problem.
Ice Universe was one of the first to talk about smartphones with waterfall screens, about the bangs in the iPhone X, about the new design of the iPhone 14, and also about the 200-megapixel image sensor of Samsung

“It will be a small loss.” Ice Universe admits Samsung’s exit from the smartphone market after LG

Chinese insider Ice Universe, who has leaked tons of reliable information about different smartphones and Samsung image sensors, has made a surprise announcement about the future of Samsung’s mobile division.
He said that for Samsung, leaving the smartphone market will not be very painful, because the company is focusing on other areas where it has achieved success.
Perhaps for the Samsung Group, even if one day it gives up its mobile phone business, it will be a small loss. Samsung focuses on semiconductors, biotechnology and artificial intelligence. Even if the mobile phone business disappears, Samsung will still be a great supplier, as will LG.

This insider often criticizes Samsung for not drawing conclusions and being inferior to Chinese competitors, while having everything in order to be the first to introduce various innovations.
Ice Universe was one of the first to talk about smartphones with waterfall screens, about the notch in the iPhone X, about the new design of the iPhone 14, as well as about Samsung’s 200-megapixel image sensor.

iPhone 13 is the most popular smartphone in the world in 2022. Top 5 – only Apple and Samsung models

According to IDC, the most popular smartphone in the world this year (in the first quarter) was the iPhone 13. In second place is the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and in fourth place is the iPhone 13 Pro. In general, the current line of Apple smartphones has no equal.
The top 5 also includes two Samsung models, but from the lower price segment, these are the Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A32. It is only natural that Apple’s revenue from the sale of smartphones is much larger than that of Samsung: $42 billion versus $3.6 billion. However, the comparison in terms of revenue is not entirely fair in the sense that the iPhone 13 has been on sale since last fall, and they are already well known to consumers. While the Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A32 only debuted in February.
