TCL is one of the companies that has long believed in foldable smartphones with flexible screens and has been working on its first clamshell model for a long time. Now Cnet has live photos of the device and a full list of characteristics, but for ordinary users this no longer matters: the smartphone, codenamed Project Chicago, has been canceled. And all because of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3.
The thing is that the Galaxy Z Flip3 turned out, if not in everything, then in many ways better than Project Chicago: it has full protection against water, a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 platform, a large (relatively) external display with a diagonal of 1.9 inches. Even in small things like dimensions and weight, the TCL device loses to the Samsung device. But most importantly, Project Chicago was not as affordable as TCL wanted it to be. In retail, such a smartphone would have cost $ 800 – versus $ 1,000 for the Galaxy Z Flip3. This, as well as the difference in characteristics and brand recognition – the last three nails in the coffin of the “project of Chicago”. Nevertheless, TCL does not abandon such a clamshell smartphone, but they talk about the release of a truly serial model in 12-18 months. Of course, this will already be a completely different smartphone.

Nevertheless, it will not be superfluous to consider the characteristics of Project Chicago – at least to understand what components manufacturers are considering for such models.
Project Chicago is equipped with two AMOLD screens. Indoor 6.67 “Full HD +, outdoor 1.1”.
Hardware platform – Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, RAM and flash memory – 6 and 128 GB. The smartphone received a 3545 mAh battery with support for 18 W wired charging and 10 W wireless charging. The front camera has a 44 megapixel sensor, the main camera has 48 megapixel (with optical stabilization) and 16 megapixel (ultra wide-angle) sensors.
Dimensions of the model folded – 86.5 x 78.1 x 17.9 mm, unfolded – 164.8 x 78.1 x 7.35 mm. Weight – 204.5 grams.
The iPhone 14 Max is still listed on Apple’s website. It was renamed to iPhone 14 Plus at the last moment
Apple introduced a total of four iPhone 14 series smartphones this year, including the iPhone 14 Plus, which is scheduled for release on October 7th. The last smartphone with the Plus prefix was the iPhone 8 Plus, released in 2017.
However, before the Apple conference, there was a lot of information that this 6.7-inch model is called the iPhone 14 Max. Now there is new evidence that the smartphone was called that. A Dutch tech blog found that there are at least two places in iPhone support documents, including Apple’s official website, where the iPhone 14 Plus is referred to as the iPhone 14 Max. This indicates that the commercial name iPhone 14 Plus was chosen at the last moment, while Apple did not have time to remove all references to the iPhone 14 Max.
Judging by the sales of the iPhone 14, as well as the level of pre-orders for the iPhone 14 Plus, the new model could end up being the most unsuccessful large Apple smartphone ever.
Yesterday we wrote about the new use of Dynamic Island in the iPhone 14 Pro. The developer decided to “hide” the cat inside Dynamic Island. When the user touches the screen, the cat tries to grab it with its paw.
“The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the best smartphone in Samsung’s history.” The new flagship will not be completely similar to its predecessor
The well-known insider Ice Universe, who regularly shares exclusive information about the latest in the mobile industry, made a loud statement about the yet unannounced Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone.
Overall, I think the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the best smartphone Samsung has ever made.
This seems strange, given that the first renders show that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is virtually indistinguishable from its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, Ice Universe has reasons for such a statement. He provided comparison images of Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
As for the chin and curved screen, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is less curved and closer to a flat screen.
This insider was the first to accurately talk about the new trend of smartphones with waterfall screens, the notch in the iPhone X, the new design of the iPhone 14, and Samsung’s 200-megapixel image sensor. Exclusive information about new products is leaked to him by sources in the research and development department of the South Korean giant.
The iPhone 14 Pro was completely destroyed, but the cameras remained intact. The blogger tested the smartphone for durability with a blender
What happens if you put the new iPhone 14 Pro in a blender and turn it on? The author of the TechRex channel decided to check this. You can see the results of this experiment in the video below.
The smartphone, of course, could not stand such a test and was completely destroyed very quickly. Moreover, the blender itself suffered in the process: its bowl burst.
But what is interesting is that the cameras of the smartphone were not affected. The glass around the lenses, of course, did not survive the loads, but the cameras themselves remained intact and did not even get scratches.
