DPReview.com closes after 25 years of operation, but before that the resource promised to publish “one of the best materials”
Scott Everett, General Manager of DPReview.com, said that after nearly 25 years of operation, DPReview is closing. This site specializes in digital photography and cameras in general.
This difficult decision is part of a plan that our parent company [Amazon] shared earlier this year. The site will remain active until April 10, with the editorial team still working on reviews and looking forward to publishing one of our best pieces. Every one of our employees was a reader and fan of DPReview before they started working here, and we are grateful for the communities that have formed around the site. Thanks for your support over the years.
Best regards, Scott Everett
DPReview was founded in 1998 by Phil Askey, he is one of the most authoritative and expert in his field today. The decision was made by Amazon, which has owned DPReview since 2007, with the resource’s editorial team operating independently.
A year ago, Amazon announced the reduction of more than 18 thousand employees of the company. Then layoffs also affected DPReview, but in the course of further cuts, Amazon decided to close an expert resource that is not a priority for the company.

Starlink satellite internet successfully tested at speeds over 2,000 km/h

The first (and not very successful) orbital flight of the SpaceX Starship took place in April, but interesting details about it are still emerging. So, as it turned out, a special “dish” of the Starlink satellite Internet system was installed on Starship – all data was transmitted to Earth through it, including video broadcasting and telemetry.
SpaceX herself spoke about the successful test of Starlink on the Starship rocket. The company reported that “Starlink set an altitude and speed record for use in flight during Starship’s first flight test, providing communications at over 123,600 feet [почти 38 км] and while flying at Mach 1.7“.
That SpaceX wanted to test Starlink on its mighty Starship rocket was no surprise: even before the April launch of Starship, the Starlink system featured in a number of regulatory documents and images of SpaceX rockets, but it was not completely clear whether the system would be installed in Starship. In fact, it turned out that it was not only installed, but also successfully tested.

Still folk 200 megapixels. Smartphone Realme 11 Pro + outside of China will rise in price minimally

Realme unveiled the latest Realme 11 Pro line of smartphones on May 10 in its home market in China, and the global premiere is now in preparation. Insider Sudhanshu Ambhore has become aware of the prices for global versions of smartphones, and they do not look overpriced, as is often the case when the Chinese model goes beyond the borders of the country.
For example, the base Realme 11 Pro+ with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will cost $330, while the top one with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of flash will cost $370. For comparison, in China, the base Realme 11 Pro+ costs $290 (although it has 12 GB of RAM, not 8 GB), and the price of the 12/512 GB version is $320. That is, prices will be higher than in China, but not by much.
The insider also announced the cost of the global Realme 11 Pro: 8/128 GB – $ 290, 8/256 GB – $ 310.
Recall, Realme 11 Pro + is built on SoC MediaTek Dimensity 7050, equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED screen, a frame rate of 120 Hz and a PWM frequency of 2160 Hz, a camera with sensors with a resolution of 200, 8 and 2 MP, a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh with 100W charging support. Realme 11 Pro is a little simpler: it has a camera with 108 and 2 megapixel sensors, and wired charging power is 67 watts.
Sudhanshu Ambhore has an extensive track record of leaks. For example, he posted details about Nokia 1.4, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite, Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro in Europe and many other mobile novelties before their official announcement.
