Designed to be worn all the time. Sony unveils LinkBuds S, the world’s smallest and lightest wireless noise canceling headphones
Sony has officially unveiled new headphones in the LinkBuds line. And if the first model in the LinkBuds line (WFL-900) had a very unusual design, the novelty called LinkBuds S received a traditional appearance for fully wireless headphones.
Sony LinkBuds S are priced at $200. For this money, the user gets headphones with active noise reduction and many convenient features.
According to Sony, the LinkBuds S can “never be removed” from your ears – they were designed to be worn continuously for long periods of time. The company also claims that the LinkBuds S are “the world’s smallest and lightest true wireless noise canceling headphones.”
LinkBuds S also received 5 mm emitters, adaptive noise reduction control, transparency mode, moisture and sweat protection (IPX4), Sony LDAC support, up to 6 hours of battery life with noise reduction and another 14 hours provides a charging case.
Another feature was the Auto Play function – it automatically starts music depending on the user’s current activity, resuming playback when the call ends. For now, Auto Play is only available through the Sony Headphones Connect app on Android, as well as Spotify and Endel.
LinkBuds S pre-orders have already begun, and open sales will start from May 20th.

Huawei has unveiled its new Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 fully wireless headphones for the international market. They were developed in collaboration with the French company Devialet, which specializes in the production of audio equipment.
European users will be able to buy Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 in white, silver blue and gray versions. The price will be 199 euros. Those who pre-order receive a smart bracelet Huawei Band 7. Open sales will begin on July 11.
The headphones received an active noise reduction system with an efficiency of up to 47 dB, as well as a long battery life. Four modes are provided – comfortable, general and enhanced, as well as a sound transmission mode, when the user remains in touch with the outside world.
Each of the headphones is equipped with two emitters and three microphones. One emitter will be responsible for low frequencies, and the other for medium and high frequencies. The total frequency range is 14 Hz – 48 kHz.
Unlike its predecessors, the headphones are protected from moisture (IP54) and dust. With the charging case, the battery life is up to 30 hours. One charge will give you 4 hours of noise-cancelling and 6.5 hours without noise-cancelling.
Huawei is gearing up to release the FreeBuds Pro 2 fully wireless earphones. It is expected to be introduced this month for around 200 euros.
At the same time, the new model will be very different both from the current one, which also came out with a price of 200 euros, and from many other similar headphones on the market. The fact is that the headphones will be two-driver. One emitter will be responsible for low frequencies, and the other for medium and high frequencies. In theory, this should provide a significantly better sound quality, but here it is better to wait for the announcement and tests.
The source speaks of a frequency range from 14 Hz to 48 kHz, as well as a collaboration with Devialet. It also talks about Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification.
FreeBuds Pro 2 will also receive active noise cancellation, three microphones for each earpiece and AI algorithms. Autonomy will be 6.5 hours with active noise cancellation and up to 8 hours without it. In addition, the source speaks of protection against moisture (IP54).
Last June, Sony launched the WF-1000XM4 True Wireless Active Noise Canceling Bluetooth Headphones in China for about $300.
At the moment, in honor of the big sale in the Jingdong store, the price has been reduced to $185. Headphones are available in silver, black and platinum color options.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 supports LDAC encoding, allowing you to transfer up to 3 times more data than conventional Bluetooth headsets. It also supports DSEE Extreme and 360 Reality Audio, using AI technology to reproduce the frequency response of the original source with high fidelity.
Sony WF-1000XM4 have stronger noise reduction at high frequencies. Compared with the previous generation, the Sony WF-1000XM4 is able to cancel noise 40% more effectively, while it can automatically detect wind noise. Using the official Sony app, you can turn on adaptive sound control and choose between 20 surround sound scenarios.
In addition, the Sony WF-1000XM4 supports quick pairing with Android and Windows 10, and can also detect the user’s speech, automatically pause music, and turn on an ambient sound mode that Sony calls “hands-free smart talking.”
The Sony WF-1000XM4 received a multi-beam design and support for bone conduction, as well as IPX4 moisture protection.
