Cyberpunk 2077 developer recommends not creating unnecessary items if theError message when the save is more than 8 MB, when trying to load the game, it was damaged and cannot be restored.

Cyberpunk 2077 Developers warned users about an unusual error with save files, which is now present in the PC version of the game.

It turns out that for stable loading of saves, users should not “inflate” their inventory and it is recommended to create as few items as possible and store a small amount of materials for crafting. Otherwise, save files are “bloated”, corrupted and impossible to recover.

The developer recommends that players back up their working saves (they are located in the “% USERPROFILE% Saved Games CD Projekt Red Cyberpunk 2077” folder), and also promises that the save file size limit “may be increased” in a future patch. Moreover, this fix will not restore damaged save files – they will remain inoperative.

Cyberpunk 2077 Reddit Sub-Forum Users found out that if the save files are larger than 8 MB, then the game will not load. In the case when the save files are from 6 MB to 8 MB, then the loading of the game can take from thirty seconds to a minute.

Mostly with this problem faced users who decided to make money in the game using various crafting.

Users in the comments took the developers’ explanations and the restriction on crafting in a game of this level very harshly.

“Is CD Projekt Red seriously affected by what you can and cannot do in an open world RPG? “Yeah, just don’t craft, maybe we can fix it” … My character almost reached the limit of technical skills and skills in 80 hours of leveling. I think CDPR is laughing and telling me to go to hell for deciding to do craft. I’m stuck with this game, there are a lot of small bugs, and I also had to fix the code in your bootloader that I could use all the AMD processor yarns, but this is damn stupid. I think I’ll be back in about 6 months, when CDPR finally gets together, “one of the players wrote.

Other users have stated that they don’t understand how crafting and save bloat are involved. They also suggested that the save system is not optimized, for example, data about enemies killed many hours ago, whose corpses appear after loading, enter the save files. In addition, some users have work save files larger than 8MB that are not corrupted. Users suggested that perhaps the problem is that a specific element in the file exceeds a certain amount, for example, it could be a green or white component for crafting.

One user explained that his save files are also constantly growing, although he is not doing in-game crafting. Example increasing the size of save files in the game over several days.

Reddit pcgaming subforum users wrote that there is a problem in the mechanism for creating saves – the creation of any item increases the size of the save file in order to save information about the new item. And after the sale of this item or its disassembly into parts, the size of the save file does not decrease. If this is the case, then old save files can still be restored using the savegame editor in the future, as soon as it is available.

December 19, 2020 released patch 1.05. It has not yet resolved the save issue. However, this patch resolves the performance issue when using Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) in AMD processors. True, the developers clarified that the patch improves the situation only for 4-core and 6-core AMD Ryzen processors. For owners of 8, 12 and 16-core processors, this patch does not help. This is due to the fact that CD Projekt Red has tested various configurations with AMD and found that performance improvements with SMT only occur on processors with 6 cores or less.

Valve has quietly degraded some Steam Deck although it claims

Valve recently announced that it plans to double Steam Deck shipments in the coming months. However, it seems that this may not be to the liking of users. Reportedly, some new 256GB and 512GB storage Steam Deck models will now ship with PCI Express 3.0 x2 SSD instead of PCI Express 3.0 x4. This halves the read and write speed.

Valve has quietly degraded some Steam Deck, although it claims that gamers will not feel the difference

Valve responded to this information and stated that during testing they did not notice any effect on gaming performance. It’s hard to say if this is true yet, but it can be assumed that slower drives will increase the loading time of level games.

It’s funny that this happened in parallel with the company’s statement about why you should not put long SSDs in the console. After all, for this it is necessary to remove the thermal pads, which can lead to overheating of the power system.

To find out which SSD is installed in the console, you need to go to the list of drives and the SSD model will be visible on the right panel. If E13T is not listed in its name, it is most likely a slower version.

Not only Valve creates portable consoles. The Chinese brand Ayaneo is preparing a Next II solution with discrete graphics and powerful processors.

The worlds first portable game console with a discrete graphics

Thanks to the Ryzen 6000U processors, a lot of portable game consoles with excellent performance will appear on the market in the near future. But the new Ayaneo company shows that you can do without the new AMD processors.

The world's first portable game console with a discrete graphics card. Ayaneo Next II will be available on AMD and Intel platforms

The console called Next II will be released at the end of the year and will offer the most unexpected configuration. The fact is that this will be the first portable set-top box with a discrete graphics card!

The novelty will be available either with a combination of a Ryzen 6000 processor and a Radeon RX 6000 3D card, or with a pair of an Intel Alder Lake CPU and a DG2 GPU, that is, the Arc family.

Unfortunately, there are no details, but we can assume that we are talking about the Radeon RX 6300M and Arc A350M or A370M. And it’s still not very clear whether it makes sense to use such components in a portable set-top box, especially considering that there is a Ryzen 6800U.

There are no other technical details about the console yet, but it is known that it will be very large, and the price will be very high.
