CD Projekt Red has lost a valuable employee: Andrzej Zawadzki, who was the chief designer of Cyberpunk 2077, decided to leave the studio where he worked for eight years.
Andrzej Zawadski announced his retirement on Twitter and thanked the entire CD Projekt Red team, adding that it was an honor for him to work with colleagues.
Andrzej Zawadski worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, he was involved in the creation of both story additions for the game. He later began working on Cyberpunk 2077 as a Junior Gameplay Designer in 2016. Over time, Andrzej Zawadski became the lead game designer for cyberpunk RPG in March 2020.
The developer did not name the reason for his departure and did not share his plans for the future in the gaming industry. Andrzej Zawadski noted that for now he is going on “long vacations” before moving on to the next big adventure.
Cyberpunk 2077 is about to receive the highly anticipated 1.2 update, which will include a redesigned driving system, improved dodge mechanics and prevent cops from spawning right behind you. The exact date of the update is still unknown, although CD Projekt Red has promised to release a patch by the end of March.
Razer Edge 5G Unveiled, First 5G Gaming Console
U.S. carrier Verizon announced today at Mobile World Congress in Las Vegas that they will be partnering with Razer and Qualcomm to launch the Razer Edge 5G, the world’s first 5G gaming console.
The Razer Edge 5G handheld console will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3X Gen 1 SoC and will run Android.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform launched in December 2021 is powered by Adreno GPU. It supports game playback at 144 frames per second with native support for 10-bit HDR. In addition, the platform offers both 5G and WiFi 6E connectivity thanks to the FastConnect 6900 system.
Late last year, Qualcomm and Razer released a developer kit to showcase the capabilities of the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3X Gen 1. The device featured a 6.65-inch 120Hz OLED display, four speakers, and controls. It was also equipped with a 5 megapixel webcam on the front and a 6000 mAh battery.
A full presentation of the device is expected on October 15, 2022.
Not long to wait: consoles Aya Neo 2 and Aya Neo Geek will be released in December
Chinese handheld game console manufacturer Aya Neo has announced that the first models based on the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor and Radeon 680M graphics will go on sale in December.
Two models are expected to be released at once: Aya Neo 2 and Aya Neo Geek. The first version will receive 16/32 GB of RAM and from 512 GB to 2 TB of permanent memory. In all cases, there will be 7-inch 1200p screens. Declared support for Windows 11 and Aya Neo OS based on Linux. Prices start at $949 for pre-orders. Retail prices start at $999. The maximum price for pre-order will be $1199, retail – $1499.
The second Geek model is positioned as more affordable. It has the same processor, but the most basic version will get an 800p screen. It will have 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The maximum version with a 1200p screen, 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of permanent storage will cost $1149/$1369.
Both devices have fingerprint sensors, gyroscopes, vibration motors and analog sticks. However, the more premium Neo 2 line has LPDDR5-6400 RAM and PCIe 4.0 drives, while the Geek has PCIe 3.0. But support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 is available for all versions. Separately, we note that all models are equipped with 3.5 mm connectors, as well as high-speed USB4 ports with support for external graphics cards.

The last secret of the “lightweight” PlayStation 5. The console received an updated AMD Oberon Plus platform
Insiders have revealed the last secret of the “lite” version of the PlayStation 5 game console with catalog number CFI-1200 / CFI-1202. As it turned out, it uses the new AMD Oberon Plus single-chip system, which has an important difference from the previous one.
We have already talked about the CFI-1200 in detail: the set-top box is lighter than previous versions, received a modified layout inside and a more compact cooling system. As it turned out, this is not all innovations: the device uses the AMD Oberon Plus SoC, made using a 6-nanometer process technology.
On paper, the transition from a 7nm SoC to a 6nm one does not look like something impressive, but in fact, this is what allowed the set-top box to be lighter and reduce heat. Switching to N6 technology can increase transistor density by almost 20% while reducing power consumption. If the SoC heats up less, then it does not need a large cooling system. That is why the “lightweight” PS5 has a more compact heatsink.
The image above clearly demonstrates how AMD’s 6nm Oberon Plus SoC differs from the 7nm Oberon. Oberon Plus crystal area is 260mm2 – Approximately 15% less Oberon crystal area (300 mm2). There is another benefit of moving to a thinner manufacturing process – more chips fit on the substrate. And this is, at the same time, a reduction in the cost of chips, and an increase in output. The latter circumstance will help Sony reduce the shortage of consoles in the market.
