Analyst firm Counterpoint has calculated that global shipments of smartphone chipsets in the fourth quarter of 2021 increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2020. Single-chip systems with support for 5G networks accounted for almost half of the total shipments. MediaTek is named the leader among manufacturers.

Counterpoint analysts named the leader in the market of single-chip systems for smartphones

“MediaTek leads the smartphone SoC market with a 33% share. Smartphone SoC production volumes declined this quarter due to strong first-half shipments and inventory adjustments by Chinese smartphone makers, said Dale Gai, director of research at Counterpoint. “Many customers have stockpiled chipsets to deal with supply chain uncertainty.”

In terms of growth prospects, Guy added, “We expect revenue to grow in Q1 2022 driven by the flagship chipset (Dimensity 9000) for smartphones. Higher 5G penetration levels offset lower seasonal demand. Chipset price increases following TSMC’s wafer price increase are reflected starting in Q4 2021. The transition to 5G in regions such as APAC, MEA and LATAM, as well as continued demand for LTE, will help MediaTek succeed in 2022.”

In 9 months of 2023, Samsung sold more than 25 million Galaxy S23 smartphones, almost half of them were Galaxy S23 Ultra

But Samsung’s line of folding flagships of the new generation is not much more popular than its predecessors: 4.86 million devices of the Galaxy Z5 line were sold in 3 months – only 4% more than in 2022, devices of the Galaxy Z4 series were sold during the same period. The most popular is the Galaxy Z Flip5, with 3.08 million units sold. Sales of Galaxy Z Fold5 amounted to 1.79 million units.

The carrier of such a camera will be Magic6 Pro. It will have a 160-megapixel sensor, but there are no details here. Perhaps physically it will still be a sensor with a resolution of 200 megapixels, but Honor will limit its working area in such a way that only 160 megapixels will be active.

The main camera of the new product will be based on the Omnivision OV50K sensor. This is not an inch sensor, but quite large – 1/1.3-inch optical format. Interestingly, the Honor Magic5 Pro has a larger main camera sensor – 1/1.12 inches.

Insider Digital Chat Station, who shared the information, was previously the first to accurately report the characteristics and release dates of Redmi K30, K40, Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 11.

Analysts also note an increasing bias towards more expensive models. True, they consider this indirectly: through the supply of panels for screens. Panel shipments for the iPhone 15 Pro models account for a higher share compared to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro. From June to October, iPhone 15 Pro models accounted for 64% of all iPhone 15 models, compared to 54% for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 series.

As we remember from the iPhone 14 line, at first it was the iPhone 14 Pro Max that was the sales leader, and only after a while the basic version of the iPhone 14 topped sales. Whether the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be able to maintain its leadership over the entire year of sales of the line is still anyone’s guess.
