It seems that at least some new Intel HEDT-class CPUs will have to wait a long time.

While Intel is successfully fighting AMD with its new Alder Lake processors in the desktop segment and is preparing to do the same in the mobile segment, the company has long abandoned one small segment of the market.

The 10th generation Intel Core-X CPUs came out back in 2019, and even then they were basically just renamed solutions of the previous generation, just with heavily reduced prices that could not compete normally with the Ryzen Threadripper. According to recent data, Intel will have to wait until the end of the year for new HEDT CPUs. It was then that the new Sapphire Rapids-APs based on the current Golden Cove architecture will be released.

In fact, the source speaks at once about four lines of new Sapphire Rapids-AP CPUs, but we are only interested in one, which can be attributed to the classic HEDT CPUs.

It is expected that these processors will contain about 28-36 cores in the maximum configuration and offer very high frequencies for this class up to 4.5-5 GHz. TDP in this case can be about 300 watts, and for top models it can reach 400 watts.

The novelties are credited with support for 64 PCIe 5.0 lanes and an eight-channel DDR5 memory controller (four channels for memory with EEC).

We also recall that earlier there was already evidence that the new HEDT CPUs from Intel will not be available in retail. They can be bought only as part of ready-made systems, and new items will be called Xeon Workstation. AMD did the same with Threaripper Pro.

As for AMD, the company should release the new Ryzen Threadripper 5000 based on the Zen 3 architecture, which are already pretty delayed, but so far there are doubts about such plans from the manufacturer.

Bloomberg talks about iOS 16 and Apple Watch non invasive blood

Editor Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has published new information about the iOS 16 operating system, which is due to be announced at Apple’s WWDC developer conference. The event will begin on June 6 this year.

A Bloomberg writer was asked which of Apple’s operating systems he thought would get the most attention at WWDC, and he replied: “As usual, it will probably be iOS. In this case, iOS 16.” Gurman added that he doesn’t expect a “complete redesign” of the operating system, but expects to see what he calls “new ways to interact.” The update, he said, will include “fresh Apple apps.” Gurman said last month that he expects iOS 16 to bring a new updated notification system and new health tracking capabilities.

Earlier leaks have revealed a new “mega-widget” supposedly known internally as InfoShack. This will allow iOS users to create custom widgets. As for watchOS 9, a Bloomberg writer previously mentioned that the blood pressure sensor won’t appear on the Apple Watch until 2024 at the earliest, with users able to get a low power mode and improved scanning for atrial fibrillation (AFib).

There were rumors that a non-invasive blood glucose sensor would appear in the watch. This would save millions of insulin dependent Americans the pain and expense of donating blood before every meal. Currently, this is done by applying a drop of blood to an expensive disposable test strip to obtain a reading of a diabetic’s blood glucose levels. These readings are used to determine the dose of insulin that a diabetic should inject before eating.

However, there are many problems associated with creating such a sensor, and Mark Gurman does not expect Apple to be able to implement such a feature in its watches within a few years.
