Collaboration with AMD did not help much: Samsung Exynos 2200 unpleasantly surprises with low performance gain, but there is some good news

Samsung is preparing to unveil its flagship SoC, the Exynos 2200, with an AMD-sponsored GPU. However, new information indicates that the Exynos 2200 will not be much faster than its predecessor.

The source writes that the cooperation of the South Korean tech giant with AMD has not brought noticeable success. The fact is that, according to internal tests, the Exynos 2200 will only offer a 5% increase in CPU performance over the Exynos 2100, while the GPU performance is about 17% higher.

It’s worth noting that the Exynos 2100 offers a noticeable 30% increase in CPU performance and a 40% increase in GPU performance over the Exynos 990. So the Exynos 2200, according to the source, shouldn’t be surprising in this regard.

But here’s the good news: The Exynos 2200 SoC features an NPU that offers an impressive 117% performance boost in AI applications. Perhaps the result of this will be noticeable in a wide variety of areas, in particular, when creating and processing photographs.

As for the Exynos 2200 GPU, it should support ray tracing, but this feature is likely to be a stripped down version of what we’ve seen on PC.

Microsoft plans to launch a mobile game store to compete

Microsoft intends to launch a new app store with games for smartphones based on Android and iOS. This will happen next year if regulators approve a deal to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. As Xbox head Phil Spencer said at the Game Developers Conference, this will allow Xbox and content to be offered both from Microsoft itself and from partners at any devices.

We want to be able to offer Xbox and content from both us and our third party partners on any screen anyone wants to play.‘ Spencer explained. He clarified that at the moment this cannot be done on mobile devices, but the company wants to “build a world” in which “such devices will be open.”

Apparently, we are talking about new rules by which Apple and Google should allow the use of third-party app stores on their mobile platforms.

As for the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, this is opposed by Sony. If the deal does go through, it would allow Xbox developers to increase competition on the “biggest platform people play on,” smartphones, of course. After all, Microsoft plans to fill the lack of mobile games with Activision Blizzard projects.

Spencer has not yet announced the launch date of the store, so it remains to be seen.

Replacing sticky buttons on a Ferrari cost the owner nearly

Supercars are a very expensive purchase, and the cost is not a one-time cost, as the following story confirms.

Facebook user Jerry Mos recounted how simply replacing sticky buttons on an unknown model Ferrari cost him nearly $10,000.

“I spent $15,000 to replace ceramic wheel bearings, $4,000 to fix drop-out lights, and so on and so forth,” says Jerry Mos. Each maintenance trip cost $1,500.

Two weeks after Jerry Mos bought a 70-year-old Corvette Stingray Convertible with the 3LT package, he decided to sell Ferrari because he couldn’t “foresee what would go wrong next time.”

According to Carscoops, sticky buttons are a fairly common problem for this brand.

All the same 13th generation Intel Core only slightly improved

We have already heard that this year Intel may release a Raptor Lake Refresh processor for the desktop segment. According to recent data, their launch will take place in August.

There is no exact data on what improvements await us with the advent of these CPUs, but earlier Intel’s Refresh models differed from the usual ones only by slightly increased frequencies.

It’s worth noting that there may not be a mobile Raptor Lake Refresh, as Intel has said several times that it will release Meteor Lake processors later this year. They, according to a number of rumors, will not be available in the desktop segment, but in the mobile segment they should completely replace the current generation.

Shared insider @wxnod previously posted photos of various Nvidia cards, including the RTX 4090 before it was announced.
