Chromebook sales fell 63.6% last quarter
Simultaneously with the data related to the tablet market, specialists from the analytical company IDC provided fresh sales statistics for mobile computers in another category – Chromebooks. It is noteworthy that in this market, the decline in sales in the fourth quarter of 2021, with overall growth for the whole year, is even more pronounced. If tablets in the fourth quarter were sold 11.9% less in annual terms, and growth for the year as a whole was 3.2%, then sales of Chromebooks in the fourth quarter fell by 63.6%, while growth for the year as a whole was 13.5%.
According to analysts, this is due to the fact that the demand for hrosbooks in major markets such as the US and Europe has been satisfied. In addition, in the face of a shortage of components, manufacturers preferred to use them to produce more profitable Windows laptops.
HP is named the largest supplier of Chromebooks. In 2021, it shipped 10.2 million computers in this category, occupying 27.7% of the market. In 2020 the share of HP was equal to 28.8%. The decrease in share is explained by the fact that shipments of HP Chromebooks grew by only 9.3%, which is less than the market as a whole.
Second place goes to Lenovo. The Chinese manufacturer managed to increase shipments by 23.4%, resulting in an increase in its share from 20.7% to 22.4%.
But the company Acer Group, which occupies the third place, managed to increase sales by only 4.6%. As a result, its share decreased from 18.7% to 17.3%.
The top five also includes Dell Technologies and Samsung with shares of 14.6% and 8.8%, respectively. They showed radically different dynamics. Dell was the only manufacturer in the top five to reduce sales compared to 2020. The reduction was 5.2%, which was enough to reduce Dell’s share from 17.5% to 14.6%. Samsung, on the contrary, showed the highest growth in the top five – 77.2%. As a result, the share of the South Korean manufacturer in the Chromebook market increased from 5.6% to 8.8%.

Lenovo has introduced a rather remarkable all-in-one computer to the home market in China: Yoga Air 32 features a powerful hardware platform and an ultra-thin body (11.6 mm).
Monoblocks with discrete GPUs can be counted on the fingers, not only is the processor the most powerful in the line, and quite a gaming GPU, but also the case is very thin. True, all this causes a considerable cost – $ 2,400! The Yoga Air 32 has a simpler version – without a discrete GPU. They ask for 1980 dollars for it.
Yoga Air 32 is equipped with a 14-core Intel i9-13900H processor, 32 GB of LPDDR5-6000 memory and a 1 TB SSD. The discrete graphics is the GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop. The IPS screen is characterized by a diagonal of 31.5 inches and a resolution of 4K. It complies with the HDR600 standard and covers 97% of the DCI-P3 color space. Among the interface connectors are HDMI 2.1, USB-C, USB-C with Thunderbolt interface, USB-A. The monoblock also received webcams with infrared illumination for the Windows Hello function and four speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
The Lenovo Yoga Air 32 is currently available for pre-order in China, with retail sales starting May 31st.

Lenovo introduced a special version of the Xiaoxin Pro 16 2023 laptop in China: the new model is called the Core Independent Display Edition, and its name indicates the absence of a discrete graphics adapter.
Previous “full” versions of Xiaoxin Pro 16 2023 had either GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop or GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop. But in the Core Independent Display Edition, the Iris Xe video core integrated into the CPU is responsible for graphics processing. The processor is also not the most powerful – 12-core Core i5-13500H, but it is used in all configurations of Xiaoxin Pro 16 2023.
Of course, due to the exclusion of dGPU, the new version of the laptop has become cheaper than previously presented: they ask for $ 800 for it. For comparison, the cost of the GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop version is $1030.
Xiaoxin Pro 16 2023 Core Independent Display Edition received a 16-inch screen with a resolution of 2.5K and a frame rate of 120 Hz, a 75 Wh battery, a pair of USB-C ports with Thunderbolt interface, 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Device thickness – 17.5 mm, weight – 1.93 kg.

Acer has unveiled the Swift Edge (SFE16-43) laptop, which combines a 3.2K OLED screen with the most powerful integrated graphics on the market and is lightweight.
The novelty is based on the Ryzen 7040U processors, including top models with the Radeon 780M iGPU, which is enough to play all modern games, albeit in some cases with minimal graphics settings. The laptop also received a 16-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3200 x 2000 pixels at a frequency of 120 Hz and a brightness of 500 cd / m2.
In addition, the novelty is very light and thin: 1.23 kg and 13 mm, respectively. This was achieved, among other things, through the use of a magnesium alloy.
From the rest, you can note up to 32 GB of RAM, up to 2 TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7, a 1440p camera, two USB 3.2 ports, two USB4, HDMI 2.1, a microSD slot and 65-watt charging.
The laptop will be on sale in July at a price of $1,300.
