China prepares to ban high-power wireless chargers for smartphones
Chinese authorities are drafting a law to end competition among smartphone makers for the fastest wireless charging.

By design, all mobile and portable wireless devices sold and used in China from January 1, 2022 should have a maximum power of 50 watts. This is stated in the bill, which is now available for public discussion.
In addition, the documentation states that mobile and portable chargers should only operate in the ranges 1002-148.5 kHz, 6765-6795 kHz and 13553-13567 kHz.
50W wireless chargers are no longer a fantasy. Chinese manufacturers are releasing similar chargers and smartphones are starting to support them.
For example, support for Xiaomi 50W wireless charging was implemented in the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra smartphone in August 2020, the same charging is supported in the new Xiaomi Mi 11. In October, Xiaomi announced 80W wireless charging for smartphones, but has not yet released it. According to rumors, Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Pro + will be able to take full advantage of the 67W wireless charging stations.
