China begins commissioning the world’s first commercial gravity battery
Energy Vault has completed construction of the world’s first commercial gravity energy storage system. Simply put, the world’s first commercial gravity accumulator, and to be more precise, this is the first commercial pumpless hydrogravity storage.
The plant was built in China by the joint efforts of Energy Vault, Atlas Renewable and China Tianying. The companies have now moved on to the commissioning process.
Despite the perhaps too “scientific” or even fantastic name, the principle of operation of a gravitational battery is much simpler than that of the same familiar lithium-ion battery. Basically, it’s just a system of cranes that raise and lower concrete blocks.
More specifically, the design includes multiple hoists that lift 30-ton composite blocks using an electric motor. The raised blocks are stacked on top of each other, which creates potential energy. At the moment when the consumer needs energy, the blocks fall under the influence of gravity, and the energy released in this process is collected and sent to where it is required.
The plant is capable of storing up to 100 MWh of energy and delivering 25 MW of power. It is built next to the wind farm and is designed to balance it. The creators of the installation speak of an efficiency (in both directions, that is, RTE) of 75%, but the figure can be increased to 80%.

Only 1.7 liters, but Core i9 and RTX 4070 Laptop. Thunderobot Mix Mini introduced starting at $750

Thunderobot has fully introduced the Mix Mini gaming mini-PC. The device is extremely interesting, since a 14-core Core i9 and RTX 4070 Laptop fit into a body with a volume of only 1.7 liters.
Of course, there are simpler versions. The base one has a Core i7-13620H, RTX 4060 Laptop, 16 GB of RAM and no storage. For such a PC they ask for $750. The most expensive one will be the one with Core i9-13900H, RTX 4070 Laptop, 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. For such a PC you will have to pay 1230 dollars.
From the rest we can highlight Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, HDMI 2.1 (x2), USB-C (x2), USB 3.2 (x2), RJ45 and dimensions 260 x 165 x 42 mm.

Using the Honor V Purse “smartphone-clutch” as a clutch can be potentially very expensive. Prices for device repairs revealed

The “smartphone-clutch” Honor V Purse, despite its positioning as a fashion accessory and form factor, is priced at not the most $825 for the basic version. Considering the same form factor and positioning, it would be useful to know that screen repair will cost the owner almost 70% of the cost of the smartphone.
As it became known, Honor will charge about $558 for screen repair. This is the price in China at the current exchange rate. It will also be very expensive to replace the motherboard: $274 or $342 depending on the configuration. Of course, this includes the platform, RAM and flash memory, since all this is soldered on the board.
Everything else will not be very expensive to replace:
- Battery (main) – 159 yuan ($22)
- Battery (auxiliary) – 159 yuan ($22)
- Back cover – 239 yuan ($33)
- Front camera (main) – 139 yuan ($19)
- Rear camera (wide angle) – 149 yuan ($20)
- Rear camera (main) – 379 yuan ($52)
Considering that this is a “smartphone-clutch”, it will be much easier to damage the screen of such a device than a regular smartphone that is constantly carried in a pocket or bag. And the prices for repairs indicate that it is better to be careful.
