Chevrolet Bolt EV battery release resumed

General Motors (GM) has outlined a comprehensive plan of action to address the Chevy Bolt EV problem that has caused it to cease production and recall more than 73,000 vehicles.

LG’s battery factories in Holland and Hazel Park, Michigan have resumed production. Moreover, LG is expanding production to increase the supply of GM cells. New battery modules will begin shipping to dealers in mid-October.

The reason for the fires, which GM reads 10, is called a rare combination of two manufacturing defects in one cell.

LG is said to have implemented new manufacturing processes and, with GM, has revised and improved its quality control programs. These processes are planned to be implemented in all enterprises that will supply GM cells.

In the meantime, GM will inform owners of Chevy Bolt EVs and EUVs that are most likely to be defective about the availability of modules for replacement. New batteries will be covered by an extended warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km (whichever comes first).

In about 60 days, GM will begin releasing new advanced diagnostic software. It will be designed to detect certain deviations that could indicate battery damage in Bolt and EUV electric vehicles by monitoring its performance. The software will notify users of any detected anomalies and allow prioritizing replacement of damaged battery modules. GM hopes that over time, the diagnostic software will allow it to return to 100% charging (currently the maximum charge level is limited to reduce the risk of fire). The installation of the new software, which will be provided to all Bolt EV and EUV owners, is the responsibility of the dealers.

For now, GM recommends setting the charge limit to 90%. You can do this by your dealer or by following the instructions at chevy.com/boltevrecall. It is recommended to charge the car more often and, if possible, avoid discharging below the level corresponding to approximately 110 km. It is recommended to park the car outside the garage immediately after charging, and do not leave the car charging indoors overnight.

The Japanese company Mitsuoka has introduced an updated retro crossover Buddy, which is an “aged” version of the popular Toyota RAV4 in the style of old American SUVs from the 70s.

According to Drom.ru, the changes include enlarged screens of the digital instrument panel and multimedia complex (the exact diagonals are not reported), as well as a full-time DVR, which will be installed from the factory.

Mitsuoka Buddy is offered in two versions to choose from. Buyers are available a pure gasoline version with a 2.0-liter engine and a hybrid with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor.

Production of the “aged” Toyota RAV4 began in June last year. The car differs from the Toyota crossover in its original body design. The front fenders, hood and bumper are made in the style of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer of the 1970-1980s. The headlights from the RAV4 were replaced with universal “rectangles”, the radiator grille is made in the form of a nickel-plated “grill”, and the original bumper with a chrome trim and vertical lights from Cadillac integrated through the adapter is installed at the back.

The original Buddy body panels are made from polypropylene and molded ABS plastic.

According to CEO Elon Musk’s announcement, Tesla has begun production of its Semi electric truck and plans to begin shipping it to Pepsi as early as December 1, 2022.

The soft drink company ordered 100 electric vehicles in December 2017, just a month after Tesla first unveiled its new creation to the world.

Tesla promises that the Semi can accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h mph in 20 seconds even when “fully loaded” and maintain “the same speed as on the highway, even on steep climbs.” It also promises that you can charge your battery up to 70% in just 30 minutes. The power reserve, depending on the version, will be from 480 to 800 km. In Musk’s own words, “driving a car is a lot of fun.”

Until 2022, there was little news about the car. In May, Tesla began accepting orders and taking a $20,000 deposit, and in August, Musk said deliveries of the 500-mile-range version of the truck would begin this year.

Tesla has pushed back the release dates of its vehicles many times. The Cybertruck pickup has been delayed several times, with Musk saying deliveries will now begin in 2023. The second-generation Tesla roadster that was announced alongside the Semi was originally expected in 2020 but has yet to be released.

Unfortunately, now we are also not talking about a full announcement, since most of the characteristics remain unknown. But this is due to the fact that the car will hit the market only in 2024, so some of the specifications are probably simply not yet approved.
