The Changan Qiyuan A07 electric sedan has been introduced, which will compete with the Tesla Model 3, XPeng P7 and BYD Seal. This is the first model of Qiyuan, a new electric vehicle brand Changan Automobile, to be offered starting at $29,000.

Changan Qiyuan A07 received hidden door handles and a body with dimensions of 4905 x 1910 x 1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. For comparison, the wheelbase of the Tesla Model 3 (which the manufacturer considers its main competitor) is 2875 mm.

The Qiyuan A07 is built on the Changan EPA1 platform, which supports extended range hybrid and pure electric models. The purely electric version will be equipped with a 217 and 260 hp electric motor. and powered by CATL lithium batteries. Her power reserve is not reported.

The hybrid version will have a 95kW 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, a 217kW electric motor and a 28.9kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, also supplied by CATL. On frequent electricity, the car will be able to drive 170 km.

BYD cuts prices on 100 models to beat Toyota and

BYD is going to beat Toyota and Volkswagen by offering modern cars at very low prices. According to Bloomberg, the Chinese automaker has reduced prices on more than 100 of its electric and hybrid models.

For example, BYD’s new generation-changing Seagull hatchback now costs less than $10,000, while the manufacturer’s best-selling electric sedan, the Qin Plus, costs less than $11,000.

BYD announced the beginning of an era called “electricity is cheaper than oil”, when hybrid and pure electric models become as affordable as traditional models with internal combustion engines, or even cheaper.

In total, BYD has already relaunched more than 70 models with lower prices. According to Bloomberg, only the newest Yangwang supercar worth 233 thousand dollars has not fallen in price so far.

By lowering prices, BYD wants to convince drivers to ditch gasoline cars and switch to electric vehicles and hybrids. This aggressive pricing policy poses a real threat to Toyota, Volkswagen, Nissan and other manufacturers.
