Canadian scientists have created a system for landing drones on uneven surfaces

Canadian scientists from the Createk Design Lab at the University of Sherbrooke (Canada) have developed a drone landing system that will allow them to land even on uneven surfaces. Typically, civilian drones used to deliver goods to the consumer require optimal landing conditions, such as level ground, calm weather, and slow landing speed. However, this is not always possible in urban areas, especially if the drone needs an emergency landing and there is simply no way to look for ideal landing conditions. In this case, the drone would benefit from the ability to land, for example, on a sloping roof.

The researchers note that existing drone chassis are usually rigid and do not provide enough friction to keep the drone stable on sloped surfaces. In addition, the poles are not able to absorb excess energy to the right extent when landing at high speed, and this leads to the fact that the drone simply bounces off the surface and gets damaged, not to mention the possible danger to nearby people.

Createk Design Lab engineers equipped the drone with four friction-damped landing legs and also used a technology used on airliners to keep them on the runway: reversing the engine on landing. Changing the direction of rotation of the drone’s propellers when landing creates downforce, which prevents the drone from bouncing off the surface and allows it to stop faster. So, the creators of the new system have successfully tested a “hard” landing of the drone on the surface with a tilt angle of 60 degrees and at a speed of about 10 km/h.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are ten years old, and you should not expect older devices running the latest Android 13 to run smoothly. Both smartphones had flagship specs for their time, but the 1GB and 2GB of RAM in the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 might not be enough for a full system at the moment.

Recall that the basic versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 were running Android 4.0.4 and 4.1.1, respectively. Android 4.3 and 4.4.4, respectively, were released as the final software versions for these smartphones.

As you can see, for example, Yuri took the RX 6800 XT, the core frequency of which, thanks to the settings, increased by 300 MHz, which provides an increase of 11-13% and allows this card to bypass the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti at least in 3DMark, which even now is almost twice as expensive. At the same time, the profiles are designed in such a way that the operating voltage is reduced by 6%, which allows you not to worry about excessive heating.
