The engineers at the Bugatti automobile company asked themselves the question – what would happen if you take an 8-liter W16 engine, put it in the lightest possible body and provide the maximum downforce? The answer to this question was the Bugatti Bolide hypercar, photos of which surfaced on the net some time ago. Now the car was officially presented – this is not a mass product, but an experiment that has clearly succeeded. The fact is that the Bugatti Bolide boasts 1825 horsepower, a weight of 1240 kilograms and a stylish body that provides perfect grip on the race track.
Actually, in order to reduce weight, Bugatti engineers had to abandon the luxury familiar to the brand. It is in the Chiron that the motorist wants to travel at a decent speed and maximum level of comfort, but when it comes solely to track, records and research, expensive materials and luxury can be abandoned. According to Stefan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti, the only luxury in the interior can be called two seats – the rest of the engineers removed to achieve the goal. What’s more, the latest carbon monocoque, hood and roof air intakes, and a dedicated carbon fiber body kit provide decent downforce.
As a result, unsurprisingly, Bugatti got a very fast car. Unfortunately, so far the manufacturer has presented only the simulation results, but they are quite impressive. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes only 2.17 seconds, from 0 to 200 km / h – 4.36 seconds. Moreover, at the moment the manufacturer has declared the maximum speed of the Bugatti Bolide – it is 500 km / h. Given a long enough track segment, the new hypercar can reach such an incredible mark in just 20.16 seconds. Now it’s worth waiting for the engineers to move from simulation to real tests – it is quite possible that Bolide will set a new speed record. 1
