Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT and Radeon RX 5700 Sonnet eGPU docking stations feature Thunderbolt 3

Sonnet Technologies has announced the release of eGPU Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT and eGPU Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5700 docking stations, which are equipped with AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT and AMD Radeon RX 5700 graphics cards, respectively. It uses Thunderbolt 3 to connect to the computer. Replacing the discontinued eGFX Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 560 and Radeon RX 570 eGPUs, the new models retain the portable form factor, but in many cases deliver more than four times the performance. In addition, the new models received two USB 3.2 Type-A ports for connecting peripherals and a second Thunderbolt port with support for monitors connected via Thunderbolt / USB-C, including Apple Pro Display XDR with 6K resolution.
According to Sonnet, the Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT and Radeon RX 5700 eGPU docks are for professionals who need to run graphics-intensive applications on an Intel-based MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini or iMac with Intel Thunderbolt 3 ports. … Both models support simultaneous connection of up to three 4K @ 60Hz displays (four with optional adapter) or one 6K display and two 4K displays. Supporting USB Power Delivery technology, they can deliver up to 60W of power to the load. The dimensions of the docks are approximately 152 x 130 x 52 mm.
The eGPU Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT costs $ 600, the eGPU Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5700 costs $ 900. Sales have already started.
