The computing power (hashrate) of the Bitcoin (BTC) network has grown from 6,290,000 hashes to 295,000,000,000,000,000,000 hashes in 13 years.

The hashrate is the total computing power on the Bitcoin network. Mining difficulty determines the amount of computing power required to find a new block in the blockchain. The parameter changes every 2016 blocks, or about once every two weeks. Thanks to this, the block time is about 10 minutes.

Bitcoin is a network with an increase in computing power that is unparalleled in modern history. In 13 years, the bitcoin hashrate has grown by 4 quadrillion percent. If in 2009 the network capacity was less than 6.3 million hashes, today it is 229 exahashes per second, or 229 quintillion hashes. After the change in difficulty on September 27, the figure exceeded 295 quintillion hashes twice.

The mining difficulty level is about 32 trillion hashes. The average interval between blocks is less than average, and is now 9 minutes instead of the standard 10. A difficulty adjustment is expected on October 11, which will change the situation.

In mid-September, Hashrate Index portal analysts shared Bitcoin mining data for August 2022. All public mining companies have continued to increase hashrate and plan to increase capacity by almost 17 EH/s before the end of the year. According to experts, the total hashrate of the entire Bitcoin network can grow to 270-280 EH / s.
