The Chinese social network Weibo published high-quality images of the Vivo Pad, the company’s first tablet computer. There are also preliminary details about the characteristics and prices.
Vivo Pad has long been credited with the SoC Snapdragon 870, and new leaks confirm this. It also talks about the presence of a large (apparently, 11-inch) screen with a resolution of 2.5K and a frame rate of 120 Hz. The device will support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies.
Vivo Pad will be quite thin, but there is no data on battery capacity. Competitors have a battery with a capacity of about 8500 mAh, one can think that the new Vivo will receive a battery of about the same capacity. There are also four speakers assigned to the tablet.
As for prices, they look like this: 8/128 GB – $ 390, 8/256 GB – $ 470. It’s important to note that this is the cost of the Wi-Fi-only options. Versions with LTE support will be more expensive.
Next Realme Tablet Might Get Snapdrgon 870, 2.5K Screen, Over 8000mAh Battery
This week, Realme introduced the Pad X 5G tablet computer, which was based on the Snapdragon 695 single-chip system, but the company was initially preparing another device – more powerful, which could well compete with the hit Xiaomi Pad 5.
According to an insider known in China as Digital Chat Station, Realme initially prepared a tablet based on a Snapdragon 870 single-chip system, with a 2.5K screen and a battery capacity of more than 8000 mAh. The leaker doesn’t say the tablet has been cancelled, so it could be next after the Pad X 5G. The insider also wrote a cryptic phrase: “the first tablet of the old competitor is also on the way”. The source saw this as a hint at the first Redmi tablet, since these brands are the main competitors in the home market. The specifications of the first Redmi tablet are not given, but to some extent it could repeat the current Xiaomi Pad 5, while Xiaomi itself will soon (presumably in August) have more powerful Pad 6.
Digital Chat Station is a world famous informant. Previously, he was the first to accurately announce the characteristics and release dates of Redmi K30, K40, Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 11.
120W, 144Hz, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 and Dimensity 9000. First details about Xiaomi Pad 6 tablets
Xiaomi has already entered the promising Pad 6 tablet into the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database, but the lineup will include not one, but three devices: Pad 6, Pad 6 Pro and Pad 6 Pro 5G. The source believes that Xiaomi will take a dual-platform approach to them.
This means that Qualcomm SoCs and Mediatek SoCs will be used simultaneously. In particular, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Dimensity 9000. That is, in terms of performance, the top versions of Pad 6 will not be inferior to flagship smartphones. Also, Pad 6 is credited with more powerful charging technology – 120W instead of 67W. As the source notes, this is especially important for devices with a battery capacity of more than 8000 mAh. Other features of the Pad 6 include 144Hz screens, better audio, and a new version of MIUI for Pad.
Google bets on tablets: new Google Calculator app unveiled
Recently, Google announced that it will focus on tablets again and bring various software improvements to Android 13. The company also announced that it will release about 20 apps optimized for tablets. The company released an updated calculator app for tablets this week.
The Google Calculator preinstalled on various phones and tablets now has a new user interface design. The new version 8.2 is optimized to take full advantage of the tablet’s large display. Now the calculator shows all the necessary buttons on the right and the history log on the left. Previously, the application took up the entire screen only to display the number and function buttons.
What’s more, when the app is used with another app in split-screen multitasking mode, the history log disappears so that both apps can be used without any problem. The app also received a quick settings toggle that allows you to quickly access the calculator from any screen.
In a previous update, Google introduced the Material You design to the Google Calculator app. Samsung Galaxy Tab devices come preloaded with the Samsung Calculator app with a lot of features and a decent user interface. This is in stark contrast to Apple, which doesn’t ship its iPads with any kind of calculator app.
