Big blow for Samsung: the company loses orders for the production of SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon

Qualcomm recently launched its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which is manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process. The Snapdragon order was a big win for Samsung. However, the South Korean tech giant is now reported to have lost its Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC business.

According to new data, Samsung is facing a major problem in the production of Snapdragon chips, as the output rate of high-quality Snapdragon 8 Gen1 single-chip systems is about 35%. This means that out of 100 chips produced, only 35 are good enough to be used by phone manufacturers.

Profit levels are quite low, which is why Qualcomm is in talks with TSMC to transfer the business to a Taiwanese plant. It is said that TSMC’s output rate of quality 4nm chips is about 70%, which is twice that of Samsung.

Along with Qualcomm, Nvidia is also reportedly moving from Samsung to TSMC for its 7nm graphics accelerator, which was originally supposed to be made by the South Korean company.

There are reports that Qualcomm plans to release the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ version earlier than usual sometime in the second quarter, and this new SoC will be manufactured by TSMC, not Samsung.

Although the Ford Explorer is a large SUV, it is not particularly “passable”: its element is asphalt and a country road (unless, of course, we talk about special versions – for example, for the US police). However, now in China they have introduced a civilian special version, which is already quite suitable for regular outings into nature. This Explorer is called the Kunlun Summit Edition.

This car differs from the usual Explorer with orange accents on the rims, two orange-colored towing eyes, Bridgestone “toothy” off-road tires, increased ground clearance by 3 cm, a redesigned rear end with hidden exhaust pipes. Of course, there is all-wheel drive with a Torsen differential on the rear axle.
