The first big test of a laptop based on the latest Ryzen 9 7945HX processor has appeared on the Web. We are talking about the Asus Zephyrus Duo 16 mobile PC, which is also equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop.
The Ryzen 9 7945HX seems to be the most productive mobile processor, as it is faster than the Intel flagships (Core i9-13900HX/13950HX/13980HX) in multi-threaded tasks. Moreover, in the source rating there are several different laptops on the mentioned Intel CPUs, and when comparing the new Asus with the Razer Blade 16, it turns out that the Ryzen 9 7945HX is faster than the Core i9-13950HX by an impressive 26%!
But when compared with the MSI Titan GT77 HX 13VI, the difference is only 4%. As always, in the case of laptops, the performance of both the CPU and GPU is very much dependent on power and cooling limits. In any case, the Ryzen 9 7945HX is the best in the source rating so far. In single-threaded mode, Intel flagships are slightly faster, but this mode is less important in modern conditions.
In addition, the new AMD is more energy efficient than its competitors. The Ryzen 9 7945HX consumed up to 120W of power in the quoted laptop, versus about 150W for Intel’s flagships. If the same Core i9-13980HX is limited to 120 W, then AMD’s flagship will be 22% faster.
It is also worth noting that the Ryzen 9 7945HX is exactly twice as fast as the Apple M2 Max and two and a half times faster than its conventional predecessor, the Ryzen 9 6900HX.
Very unusual for Intel, Lunar Lake processors with only four large cores will be released in very limited volumes at the end of this year
It looks like Intel Lunar Lake processors will share the same fate as the current Meteor Lake processors. In the sense that the first ones will also be released at the very end of the year.
According to insider Golden Pig Upgrade, Intel will adhere to the same EEP (Early Enablement Program) in the case of Lunar Lake as when launching Mateor Lake. This means that some manufacturers in some markets will have access to new CPUs significantly earlier than others. This will lead to the fact that at the first stage Lunar Lake will not be available everywhere and in a limited range of laptops. But at the beginning of 2025, we will see a wider distribution of new CPUs.
Let us remember that Lunar Lake will be quite unusual processors. They’re being designed from the ground up with a focus on power efficiency, and will have a maximum of eight cores (four big and four small), and the big cores might not even get Hyper-Threading support, although there’s no official word on that yet.

Intel’s ambitious new goal: shipping 100 million AI PC processors by the end of next year
Even processor manufacturers are increasingly talking about artificial intelligence. So Intel said it has set an ambitious goal: to deliver 100 million AI PC processors to the market by 2025.
In this case, apparently, this means by the end of 2025, since Intel clarifies that 40 million will be delivered this year and another 60 million next year.
Let us remind you that Intel currently only has an NPU unit for working with AI in Meteor Lake mobile processors. This year we are also expecting Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake, which will also have corresponding blocks. AMD, recall, has an NPU unit in the Ryzen 7040 and the new Ryzen 8040.
At the same time, from a software point of view, all this is still relatively useless for the average user, since there is practically nowhere to use these hardware resources.
