Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink satellite internet project is entering the home stretch. The beta testing period, which began at the end of October last year, ends in October this year. This was stated by Elon Musk himself on Twitter, answering a direct question from one of the users.

And although Musk does not talk about what will happen to the service next, usually leaving the beta testing stage means an early launch of full-fledged commercial operation, and there is no reason to think that something will be different with the Starlink project.

Currently, satellite Internet access through the Starlink system provides more than 100,000 people in 14 countries around the world, but in the United States alone, more than half a million people are queuing up to connect – and this was only at the beginning of May. Considering that the geography of Starlink services has expanded significantly, and the data transfer rates have grown significantly (in the near future, data in the Starlink system will be transmitted at the speed of light at all), there should already be many more people in the queue for connection. In fact, the only thing that is currently limiting the volume of user connections in those countries where the beta testing program is being carried out is the insufficient release of “plates” (sets of subscriber equipment). There are all hopes for a new “plate”, a set with which will cost $ 250 instead of the current $ 500, and it will be easier to manufacture.

The author of the HDTVTest channel conducted a series of tests and determined that the TV can indeed operate at a higher frequency than stated. At the same time, it works in full 4K UHD without various tricks like reduced vertical resolution and does not miss a single frame. Is that in this mode the color depth is limited to 8 bits.

In order to get the TV to work in this mode, you will need a PC, since modern consoles only support 120 Hz. You also need a video card with HDMI 2.1 and an appropriate cable. The author tested the novelty with the GeForce RTX 3090. Everything worked fine, including G-Sync.

The Samsung S95B QD-OLED is therefore a unique TV not only because of its new panel, but also because of its support for 144Hz at 4K UHD resolution.
