Back to basics: Resident Evil gets a movie based on the first games in the series for PlayStation

Capcom is in no hurry to relaunch the Resident Evil game universe, but the films would benefit from a new vision. So did the filmmakers from Constantin Film, announcing a new beginning for “Resident Evil”.

MCU restart

According to director and screenwriter Johannes Roberts, the Resident Evil movies will receive a relaunch that follows the canon of the first PlayStation games. Actions plan to deploy in 1998 in the ill-fated Raccoon City, and the main characters will be the already familiar Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield and others.

Resident Evil restart cast:

  • Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield
  • Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine.
  • Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield.
  • Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker
  • Avan Jogia as Leon Kennedy.
  • Neil McDonough as William Birkin.

“With this film, I would really like to go back to the original, the first two games and the associated horror I felt when I first played them. At the same time, I am telling the story of a small, dying American town that will feel familiar and relevant to today’s audiences, ”said Roberts.

The film has no premiere date yet, but even if you have to wait a long time, then the fans of the universe have something to drown out their hunger for their favorite franchise. Netflix will release in 2021 CGI series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, a series about Wesker’s children is also expected. And don’t forget about Resident Evil Village, which is also slated for release next year.
