Atari VCS will use Google Chrome as a built-in browser

The Atari VCS retro console expands its functionality.

Atari today announced that the system will use Google Chrome as a built-in browser, allowing users to access websites and the full suite of Google Workspace applications such as Chrome, Docs and Meet. The Atari VCS will also support most essential PC accessories, including webcams, as well as regular keyboards and mice.

Atari previously announced that the console will be able to run operating systems including Windows, Linux and ChromeOS. Having the most popular browser built into the system right from the start means owners don’t have to go through complicated OS setup to use VCS as a pseudo mini-desktop. Atari also introduced the VCS Companion app for iOS and Android, which will allow you to use your mobile device as a virtual mouse and keyboard in Chrome and other applications. As a result, Atari managed to make not so much a game console as, almost, a full-fledged mini-PC. More on the Wonder Console here.
