At the end of the third quarter, Apple’s share of the smartwatch market decreased by 10%

Global shipments of smartwatches in the third quarter of this year increased by 16% over the same period last year. Such data are available to the specialists of the analytical company Counterpoint Research.

With the launch of the Galaxy Watch 4 series, Samsung has reached the highest level of quarterly shipments, closing the gap with Apple and taking second place from Huawei. With this series of smartwatches, the South Korean manufacturer has expanded its app ecosystem using Android-based Wear OS instead of Tizen. The novelty is offered in two versions – basic and classic.

Apple still ranks first, but its share declined by 10% on an annualized basis. In third place is Amazfit.

According to analysts, the most striking events of this quarter are the rapid growth of Indian brands. The Noise and boAt smartwatches, which ranked # 1 and # 2 in the Indian market respectively, were shipped more than double their sales in the previous quarter.

Apple has announced the winners of the annual App Store Awards, which have identified the best apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. As usual, the App of the Year and Best Game categories are categorized by device. Apple has added a new Trends of the Year category this year.

The App of the Year for the iPhone is Toca Life World, a colorful game for kids by Toca Boca. LumaFusion video editing app was voted the best iPad app. The app has established itself as one of the most trusted content creator tools in Apple’s mobile ecosystem. Co-founder Terry Morgan said daily user activity doubled during the pandemic.

Craft named Mac App of the Year. It is an office application built natively for macOS (there are also versions for iOS and iPadOS) that allows you to create and edit documents and notes with images, videos and PDF attachments in a structured and visually appealing way. Carrot Weather is the Apple Watch App of the Year. It offers detailed meteorological readings, and you can choose how much to show different information. The best app for Apple TV is Dazn (streaming service).

According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, Amazfit, known for its various wearables, became the third largest smartwatch supplier in the world in the third quarter of this year, overtaking the Chinese giant Huawei.

Amazfit managed to ship about 9.9 million units of its smartwatches in the third quarter of 2021, up 89% over the same period last year. The company now occupies 5.8% of the global smartwatch market.

The company’s overseas sales accounted for 61.8% of total sales. In Germany, sales increased 150% year-on-year, while shipments in Turkey increased 324% year-on-year. The company received a good response in the European market, in Italy, Spain and Germany. The most popular models are the GTR 2e, GTS 2e and T-Rex Pro.

Apple retained its leading position in the smartwatch market in the third quarter with a share of 21.8%, but it was down 10% year-over-year. Samsung came in second with record shipments of the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic, helping the brand increase its share from 9.9% to 14.4%.
