Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 smartphones will use the latest LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. But not all versions.

According to insider Ice Universe, the base model of the Galaxy S23 with 128 GB of flash memory will receive UFS 3.1 flash memory. This is just about the younger model, since the S23 + in the minimum configuration will have 256 GB of flash memory, like the S23 Ultra.

As for such a strange difference, it seems that it is not at all Samsung’s desire to save money. As the insider says, apparently, the company itself simply does not produce UFS 4.0 chips with a capacity of less than 256 GB.

At the same time, there are Kioxia 128 GB UFS 4.0 chips on the market – these are used in Xiaomi 13. However, tests show that such memory is significantly slower than the values ​​\u200b\u200bdeclared for UFS 4.0, which, apparently, Samsung decided to use its UFS memory 3.1 in the base version of the Galaxy S23.

Apple for the first time ranked second in China’s smartphone market.

Counterpoint analysts assessed the Chinese market based on the results of the last quarter and the entire 2022. In the fourth quarter, Apple was the undisputed leader, as well as in the global market, thanks to the new iPhones. The company occupied 23.7% of the market against 17.2% of the nearest competitor. At the same time, Apple’s sales, like almost everyone else’s, sank. Only Huawei stands out here, having managed to increase supplies by 15%.

At the end of the year, Apple overtook Oppo and took second place with an 18% share. The leader represented by Vivo occupies 19.2%, that is, the gap is small. At the same time, Apple’s share has grown from 16% in 2021, while Vivo’s share has fallen from 21.5%. If the trend continues, Apple may well take the lead this year.

It can also be noted that the share of Oppo has also decreased, as well as the share of Xiaomi and Huawei. But Honor grew from 10.4% to 16.7%, that is, very significantly.
