At CES 2023, which is taking place these days in Las Vegas, the public premiere of one of the most unusual TVs, Displace TV, took place. This device does not have a screen with outstanding parameters – it has a 55-inch 4K OLED matrix, but the design itself is very remarkable.

Displace TV attached to the window

Displace TV is completely devoid of wires or connectors – the video is transmitted to it through the second component of the system, placed next to the TV. All video signal sources are connected to the station, as well as the power cable.

Displace TV has a built-in camera

The TV does not need to be connected to the mains, it is powered by four hot-swappable batteries. The creators of Displace TV say that when using the TV up to 6 hours a day, battery charges will last for a month.

Vacuum suction cups on the back of the TV

But that’s not all. On the back of the TV, there are two vacuum suction cups of the original form, with which a 9-kilogram device can be attached to a vertical surface. For example, at the exhibition it was attached to the window. In theory, such a system allows you to completely abandon the drilling of walls and the installation of special fasteners, but how it will show itself in practice is a big question.

One of four batteries

The development is still at the prototype stage, but the company has already named a cost ($ 3,000 per piece, while only 100 pieces are available for order) and promised to arrange deliveries by December. In the meantime, the design is being finalized. Including the developers promise to further reduce the already narrow frame so that by buying four of these TVs, you can create a seamless wall with a diagonal of 110 inches and a resolution of 8K. Batteries will also be improved.

The situation, if not extraordinary, is rather strange: since the release of the Radeon RX 7000 line, the company has consistently updated the driver for them four times already, while for models based on the RDNA2 architecture (that is, the Radeon RX 6000) and older, not a single driver has been released.

In general, the company adheres to the strategy of releasing a unified Adrenaline driver for all models of its video cards (at least for those based on the RDNA3 and RDNA2 architectures), and Frank Azor once again confirmed this. But only recently the implementation of this strategy has stalled.
