With the introduction of the new MacBook Pros this week, Apple has focused on their single-chip platforms and increased GPU performance over its predecessors. And indeed, the new GPUs are faster. But what if you compare them to other laptop GPUs?

And here everything is not so rosy, at least if you focus on the data from the OpenCL test of the Geekbench benchmark. If the 38-core GPU of the Apple M2 Max platform scores 75,139 points in it, then the result of the GeForce RTX 4070 is just over 102,000 points. The difference is about 35%.

Naturally, this does not mean at all that in real applications (for example, when encoding video or processing photos) there will be exactly the same difference in performance, but it also means that new laptops with GeForce RTX 40 GPUs will at least not be inferior to new ones. MacBook Pro in terms of pure graphics performance.

Photos of Nvidia GPUs of the Ada Lovelace generation, designed for low-cost video cards, have leaked to the Web.

Nvidia, when will the budget GeForce RTX 40s appear for the desktop segment? Photos of junior GPUs AD107/AD106 for mobile RTX 4050/4060/4070 hit the Network

In the picture you can see the AD107 and AD106 GPUs. So far, there are no processor data carriers in the desktop segment, but they have already been announced in the mobile segment: these are the RTX 4050/4060 and RTX 4070.

The new GPUs are very compact. The smaller one has an area of about 150-160 mm2, and the larger one has an area of 180-190 mm2. In comparison, the AD104, which the desktop RTX 4070 Ti is based on and the mobile RTX 4090 is supposed to be based on, measures almost 300mm2.

The AD107 has 3072 CUDA cores while the AD106 offers 4608 CUDA cores. In both cases, video cards will have a 128-bit memory bus.

Laptops based on graphics cards with these GPUs should hit the market soon.

AMD classic Ryzen 7 7700X drops even further and now

Ryzen 7000 processors continue to get cheaper. Now several major foreign chains are offering the eight-core Ryzen 7 7700X for $299.

AMD classic: Ryzen 7 7700X drops even further and now costs less than $300

Recall that AMD initially priced this CPU at $400, then the company lowered prices for all new items, and this model began to cost $350. Now we have another decline, although it may be temporary.

Discounts also apply to the Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X and Ryzen 5 7600X, but in their case, the prices simply fell back to those that AMD set back in November, while the Ryzen 7 7700X fell even more.

Whether this offer will be available globally and how long it will be active is unclear. But let’s recall that yesterday AMD itself admitted that for the past six months it has deliberately limited the supply of its products to the market, which is why prices were inflated.

In addition, we recall that the unique Ryzen 7000X3D will soon enter the market.

Are Intel Arc graphics cards going to be the best

Intel has released a fresh graphics driver for Arc video cards, which, as the company itself promises, will increase performance by some incredible values.

Are Intel Arc graphics cards going to be the best value for money now? The company claims to have increased productivity by up to 87%

Of course, not everywhere, but Intel says that in Full HD performance will increase by up to 77%, in 1440p by 87%, and the average increase for older games with DirectX 9, which Arc cards initially had problems with, should increase by 43%. All these figures are valid for the Arc A750, which Intel has just reduced the price to $250.

The growth that Intel promises is really impressive. Under these conditions, the $250 Arc A750 should be the best-value graphics card in the class, as it competes on price with the GeForce RTX 3050 and Radeon RX 6600, which it could previously beat. However, it is better to wait for various tests and evaluate whether such an impressive performance increase really takes place.
