Apple’s “iPhone Replacement” weighs just 300g and supports hand tracking
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed new details about Apple’s augmented reality headset, which has already been dubbed an “iPhone replacement” on the Web after reports that it should replace the iPhone on the market within 10 years.
The source claims that it can weigh only 300 g (but not more than 400 g), and the heart of the device will be the Apple M1 single-chip system. The device will be equipped with advanced hand gesture tracking hardware that will be used to navigate the user interface.
The analyst says the company will use a combination of ToF time-of-flight cameras and structured light sensors. The latter are used in the Face ID system of modern iPhones, but their coverage will be increased by 200%.
The software will be able to recognize the “dynamic change in detail” of the hands, further increasing accuracy. Like Face ID, it can recognize faces with different expressions and accessories that don’t interfere with the unlocking process. Time-of-flight cameras will help with low-latency tracking and improve the headset’s field of view.
According to internal sources, Apple is already working on a second version of the device, which is likely to be even lighter than the first. This suggests that Apple is close to launching the original version.
The first Apple headset is expected to ship next year.

iDropNews: iPhone 14 presentation will take place on September 13

According to iDropNews, Apple has already decided to hold a fall event for the launch of new devices, which will be held on September 13th.
At this event, Apple is due to introduce the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. This year, Apple will expand the distinction between professional and non-professional iPhone models. Apple will reportedly equip the iPhone 14 Pro models with the 4nm A16 Bionic SoC, while non-professional phones can cyjdf use the 5nm A15 Bionic SoC that was used in the iPhone 13. Most consumers have no idea what SoC the phone is built on. SoC reuse could help Apple make the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max more price-competitive.
Even if Apple reuses the A15 Bionic SoC in iPhone 14 non-professional phones, it could still give them a different name, such as A16 Bionic. Then the new platform will be called SoC Apple A16 Pro.
Other differences include replacing the notch on iPhone 14 Pro models with an “i-shaped” cutout for the FaceTime and True Depth cameras. Meanwhile, inexpensive non-professional models will still have bangs. Other improvements to be found in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max include a 120Hz ProMotion display and a 48MP wide-angle camera.
Prices for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are rumored to start at $800 and $900, respectively. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can cost between $1,100 and $1,200, respectively.
Also at the event are the highly anticipated AirPods Pro 2 and three Apple Watch models.

Samsung releases urgent mysterious update for Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra

Less than a month after the Galaxy S22 family of smartphones received the previous update, these devices have received a new urgent update. So far, this only applies to Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra devices based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Those who bought Exynos 2200-based versions have not yet received the update.
The new version is labeled S90xEXXU2AVE4 (where the “x” changes depending on the model) and is already in distribution in a dozen countries. The update size is 350 MB. The mysterious update contains various unnamed security fixes as well as “general feature stability” improvements.
Mid-month updates like these are rare for Samsung, so the company is believed to have found something to fix as soon as possible rather than waiting for the June security patch to be released in a couple of weeks.
If you have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 based Galaxy S22, S22+, or S22 Ultra and haven’t received an update notification for that device yet, you can check it manually by going to Settings > Software Update.
