Apple’s big March presentation: details about the iPad Air 5 and the new iPhone SE
According to Japanese blog Mac Otakara, Apple plans to release a fifth generation iPad Air with similar features to the recently released sixth generation iPad mini. The tablet should receive a single-chip Apple A15 Bionic system, a 12-megapixel wide-angle front camera, 5G support, and a four-color True Tone LED flash.
The new tablet will have the same body as the current model, including one rear camera. The current iPad Air, released in October 2020, features a 10.9-inch thin bezel display, a power button with Touch ID scanner, and a USB-C port. It is said that Apple will not raise the price of the iPad Air 5, but will remain in the current price range.
The source adds that the new iPad Air will be released in March this year along with the third-generation iPhone SE. As for the new smartphone, it will also receive the Apple A15 Bionic single-chip system and support for fifth-generation networks, but there should not be any changes in terms of design. So claims Mac Otakara, although at the end of last week the new iPhone SE with an unexpectedly large screen and bangs was shown in high-quality images.
The source confirms that Apple will price the iPhone SE3 below $400 in the US and drop it from RMB 3,299 to RMB 3,000 in China.

A $250 smartphone with 10x optical zoom? In China, such a device will allegedly be released under the NZone brand.

In China, an inexpensive smartphone with a 10x optical zoom can.
The operator China Mobile under the NZone brand is preparing to release a model with the catalog number SP210, which will receive a triple main camera with a 10x optical zoom. Unfortunately, we only know that the main sensor will have a resolution of 50 megapixels.
Perhaps the information about 10x optical zoom is a mistake or a typo. Firstly, since the smartphone will cost only $250, and secondly, because NZone is China Mobile’s brand under which the company releases Huawei smartphones. And Huawei simply does not have an inexpensive smartphone with a 10x optical zoom. In fact, there are no such devices on the market at all.
Perhaps this refers to a hybrid zoom, or even only digital. But if, by some miracle, a $250 smartphone with a 10x optical zoom does come out, it will be a unique product.
From the rest, a 6.7-inch IPS screen, 5G support, an unknown eight-core platform, 8 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of flash memory, and a 4900 mAh battery are reported. Dimensions will be 163.3 x 74.7 x 8.4 mm with a weight of 195 g.

Apple wants to use E Ink screens in the iPhone and iPad. The company is testing similar displays as auxiliary displays for flexible models.

Apple may start using E Ink screens in its devices. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo spoke about this.
Apple is testing an E Ink display for future foldable devices. The E Ink color display can be the go-to solution for foldable devices that need a cover or second screen due to its excellent power savings
Kuo says that Apple considers such screens as additional ones. For example, it can be a small secondary screen on a foldable iPhone or a screen on an iPad case.
E Ink screens only consume energy to change the image, so they are great for such tasks. We have already seen smartphones with such screens, so there is nothing new for the market.
When such devices can enter the market is not yet clear, but Apple may not release the first foldable smartphones until 2025, according to the same analyst.

US sanctions are no longer a hindrance. Huawei smartphones have found support for 5G

Rumors that Huawei smartphones can get 5G support using a third-party accessory – a case, have been fully confirmed. Today the device is presented officially.
Recall that US sanctions actually cut off Huawei from the RF filters necessary for the implementation of 5G, and other companies were also prohibited from selling Huawei single-chip systems with 5G support. A case that connects to your smartphone via USB-C allows you to bypass all these obstacles.
It cannot be said that such a solution does not look elegant or alien: on the contrary, the cover is hardly distinguishable from other similar products. Its thickness is 3.2 mm, weight – about 52 grams. Inside is a dual-core processor with a frequency of 1.35 GHz and eSIM. It is noted that after connecting the case to the smartphone, you need to specify the main SIM and activate the eSIM, after using the main SIM card, a 5G network will become available with support for the following ranges:
- SA: N1, N3, N41, N77/78, N79, N28;
- NSA: B3+N41, B3+N78, B3+N79;
- B1 + N78, B39 + N41, B41 + N79;
- B39 + N79, B5 + N78, B8 + N78.
The case is designed by Soyealink Digital Source Technology. It will go on sale in China in early June. So far, the device is only available for Huawei P50 Pro at a price of $120. Later, options should appear for all 4G versions of the Mate 40 and nova 9 smartphones, as well as the promising Mate 50 and nova 10.
