Apple will make the iPad closer to the Mac, but will not transfer tablets to a computer OS. There was data on new features in iPadOS 16
The other day we learned what changes Apple is preparing in its operating systems. Now there are details regarding iPadOS 16.
As already mentioned, Apple will improve the features related to multitasking. In fact, the changes will indeed be quite tangible, albeit far from being necessary for everyone.
The new interface will allow users to easily switch from the task they are working on to viewing the entire list of open applications. This will allow you to quickly switch from one application to another.
Apart from this, iPadOS 16 is also expected to have the ability to resize windows. What’s more, Apple could also offer users a new way to interact with multiple apps at the same time. This will bring iPad multitasking closer to that of the Mac, thereby closing the gap between the two platforms. That is, it is not yet worth counting on the company to transfer its tablets to macOS, given Apple’s efforts regarding iPadOS.
According to Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman, the new multitasking changes in iPadOS 16 will be one of the biggest announcements at WWDC 2022.

MSI declassifies the performance of the Arc A380 graphics card from its M301 Dragon Shield computer

MSI has unveiled the gaming performance figures for the Intel Arc A380 graphics card that will be installed in its new M301 Dragon Shield PC. This data was leaked from promotional materials that mentioned several esports games. All of them use medium or low graphics quality settings.
In Naraka: Bladepoint, the card produces about 85 frames per second, in League of Legends – more than 200 frames per second, in PUBG – more than 94 frames per second, and in Overwatch – more than 100. This is approximately the level of Arc A370M mobile graphics cards.
Note that MSI is preparing two versions of desktop PCs with Intel graphics cards – a model with a Core i5 12400F processor and a regular Arc A380 graphics accelerator, as well as a version with a Core i7 12700KF processor and an overclocked version of a 6 GB graphics card.
It is not yet reported when the new desktop video cards will enter the global market. At the moment, they are offered only in China and only as part of finished PC assemblies. But laptops with Arc A370M cards have already appeared in the US.

Almost like a full-fledged computer: iPadOS 16 will allow you to connect external PCI, USB and audio devices to iPad based on Apple’s own processors

Last week, Apple held its annual WWDC conference, where it talked about future versions of iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and macOS. Now it has become known that the new iPadOS 16 will support the DriverKit API, which will allow device manufacturers to create more accessories for tablets.
DriverKit API is a framework originally created for Mac computers in 2019. It allows you to write custom drivers for the iPad and make your products compatible with the tablet. Currently, this framework supports USB, PCI and audio devices, and the drivers can be easily transferred from macOS. In the future, drivers can be distributed through the App Store. So far, this only works with devices based on Apple’s own processors (for example, M1), that is, in terms of tablets, everything is limited to the iPad Pro 2021 and iPad Air 2022 models.
iPadOS 16 will arrive as a public beta in July. The release assembly will be released this fall.
In addition, iPadOS is expected to support the Metal 3 graphics framework, which will allow you to run “heavy” games on tablets, such as No Man’s Sky.

You don’t even need to boot up your computer to play. Doom launched in the BIOS of the motherboard

Coreboot is a non-commercial project for a unified BIOS that can be installed on different motherboards instead of the original system from a specific manufacturer. Coreboot performs all the initialization functions of the hardware, like a regular BIOS, but after that it can run the so-called “payload” – a term taken from the space sphere. In version Coreboot 4.17, Doom, the original shooter from 1993, became such a “payload”.
On which systems Doom has not been launched, but now you can use the BIOS for this. More precisely, Coreboot. However, you will have to put up with some limitations: coreDOOM (the Coreboot version of the game) only supports a keyboard connected to a PS/2 connector. It is impossible to save in the game, the soundtrack is also missing. And after exiting the game, everything freezes tightly. But after all, Windows often hangs in games. True, these are completely different games.
