Apple removed all third-party headphones and speakers from its store

The company stopped selling Bose active noise canceling headphones, as well as portable speakers Sonos and Ultimate Ears, a subsidiary of Logitech, in the Apple Store. Thus, only the company’s devices remained in online and offline stores – AirPods, HomePod, and Beats.

What for?

In the comments of Bloomberg, representatives of the company named the only reason: “We regularly update the range of the Apple Store.” Representatives of other companies, whose products have disappeared from the store, only add that Apple has stopped shipping some categories of goods since September.

But in general, this behavior of Apple strongly hints at the imminent release of new products. For example, we have long been expecting the release of full-size headphones, which will presumably be called AirPods Studio:

Also recently it became known that Apple will announce new HomePod models in the near future. Moreover, there can be two of them at once: HomePod 2 and HomePod mini (the names are conditional). These speakers are supposed to allow the company to compete with Google Nest and Amazon:

It’s difficult to say, but according to rumors, the next Apple event will be held next week, on October 13th. On this day, the iPhone 12 will definitely be shown. Probably, in addition to smartphones, the company will also show new headphones.

This is not the first time that Apple has stopped selling products from other manufacturers that may compete with its own. For example, Fitbit fitness bracelets disappeared from the Apple Store in October 2014. This happened a month after the presentation of the first generation of Apple Watch, which went on sale six months later, in April 2015.

However, the situation with the Apple Watch may also indicate that the long-awaited AirPods Studio may not show in October. So the second date when headphones can be presented, I would call 10 or 17 November. Probably, these days there will be another Apple event, where the company will talk in detail about the new MacBook on an ARM processor.
