Apple plans to create more compact GaN chargers

According to DigiTimes, Navitas Semiconductor has received an order from Apple to manufacture GaN chargers.

It is reported that TSMC, which is a partner of the Apple Corporation, will become the main supplier of GaN chips for Navitas Semiconductor.

As a result, more compact and lighter chargers should hit the market compared to the current power adapters. Using GaN technology will provide better energy efficiency and lower thermal conductivity.

Navitas Semiconductor is the creator of the GaNFast gallium nitride solution, which it claims is used in several fast charger models. GaNFast technology is adopted by several popular brands including Lenovo, Xiaomi and Dell.

For ordinary users, the cooperation between Apple and Navitas Semiconductor will bring high-quality chargers, but, most likely, they will be sold separately and will not be included in the package of future smartphones.
