Apple mobile devices will rise sharply: the price of the iPad Pro will soar by 80%
New 2024 iPad Pro tablets with OLED screens will cost 60-80% more than current models, according to The Elec, citing supply chain sources.
The 11-inch OLED iPad Pro will start at $1,500, while the 12.9-inch version will start at $1,800. The current iPad Pro lineup is represented by models with IPS and mini-LED screens, which cost between 800 and 1.1 thousand, respectively.
It is known that Apple, LG Display and Samsung Display are negotiating the delivery price of OLED panels for the new iPads at around $270 for the 11-inch model and $350 for the 12.9-inch model. That’s two to three times the price of a 10-inch OLED panel that comes in at $100 to $150.
LG Display is currently developing both 11-inch and 13-inch OLED displays for the iPad, while Samsung Display is developing only one 11-inch model. The number of models developed by each company may change depending on progress in the future. In addition, South Korean manufacturers are inflating prices amid problems faced by the Chinese company BOE when creating OLED screens for new iPhones and iPads.
It was previously reported that a Chinese supplier was facing “technological problems” while producing screens for Apple this year.
Some analysts believe that the price increase is justified, while others believe that the iPad audience is not as loyal as iPhone users, and there are many alternatives on the market.
