Research firm IDC released a report on global tablet shipments for the third quarter, according to which tablet shipments reached 42.3 million units, down 9.4% from a year earlier. Nonetheless, Apple’s iPad shipments continue to grow in a shrinking market.
Apple iPad shipments in the third quarter were 14.7 million units, up from 14 million units a year earlier. This is a 4.6% increase over the same period last year, bringing Apple’s share of the tablet market to 34.6%.
Apple has a strong lead in the tablet market. The second place is occupied by Samsung with a market share of 17.7%, Amazon is in third place with a market share of 11.1%. Samsung and Amazon tablet shipments fell 11.1% and 13.3% year over year, respectively.
Many educational institutions and governments have spent their budgets purchasing distance learning devices, and even consumers have aggressively bought learning devices in 2020. As a result, some saturation of the educational market is expected in the near future. This is especially noticeable in developed markets such as the USA and Western Europe.

Apple expects Q4 iPad shipments to remain flat due to ongoing supply chain restrictions. What’s more, sources have confirmed that iPad production has dropped 50% over the past two months from the original plan.
Google showed Pixel Tablet
Today at the big Made by Google presentation, Google not only introduced the new generation of Pixel 7 smartphones and Pixel Watch smartwatches, but also showed the long-awaited Pixel Tablet.
The announcement of the Google Pixel Tablet turned out to be preliminary, sales of the device will begin only in 2023, and most of the details have so far remained shrouded in mystery.
However, some details have been revealed by Google. SoC Tensor G2 became the hardware basis – like the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. According to the company’s description, Google Pixel Tablet cannot be called a standard tablet. It can also act as a smart screen.
To turn a tablet into a smart screen, Google offers a special magnetic dock. Google is also pointing out the tablet’s “premium materials and finishes” — the aluminum chassis has been given a “unique” coating with ceramic particles.
The Redmi Pad tablet is presented for the global market. Already not as cheap as in India
The Redmi Pad tablet computer was presented twice today: in the morning – locally in India, and in the afternoon the device debuted for the global market. The parameters for several hours that separated the premieres have not changed, which cannot be said about the price.
If in India for a basic Redmi Pad with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash memory they ask for only $ 160, in Europe the same configuration is priced at 280 euros! Obviously, there is no need to talk about any budget device. For example, for the same money in Europe, you can buy a Lenovo Tab P11 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory.
As for versions, Europeans are offered the same three options as Indians: 3/64, 4/128 and 6/128 GB.
