Apple has hired Littler Mendelson, an anti-union law firm with an impressive list of high-profile clients, according to a source. For example, Starbucks, McDonald’s and Nissan.

Apple hires a well-known firm to fight labor unions

Apple’s decision to turn to professionals came shortly after 100 employees at Apple’s retail store at Cumberland Mall petitioned the National Labor Relations Board last week for a union election. At the same time, Apple did not publicly react to this situation.

Apple workers at an Atlanta retail store hope to join Communications Workers of America. In recent months, CWA has played a significant role in organizing tech workers, including organizing labor unions at Raven Software and Verizon Wireless.

The Apple Store at Cumberland Mall became the first Apple Store in the United States to file for a union. However, he is unlikely to be the last. Earlier this month, for example, workers at Apple Grand Central began collecting signatures to form a union.

Recall that Apple Store employees in the US complain about insufficiently high wages, noting that they are an important link in the success of Apple and could receive more. One Apple store employee in New York said the company is already holding closed meetings with employees in an attempt to turn them against unions.

The iPhone 16 and Galaxy S24 lines will not receive an increase in RAM compared to their predecessors, despite the hype around AI

The iPhone 16 and Galaxy S24 lines will not receive

Samsung smartphones from the Galaxy S24 line and devices from the iPhone 16 line will likely retain the same RAM options that current models currently have.

The iPhone 16 and Galaxy S24 lines will not receive an increase in RAM compared to their predecessors, despite the hype around AI

Analysts at Mizuho Securities, cited by insider Revegnus, say that the growing demand for AI should, in theory, contribute to the growth of RAM in smartphones. We previously reported that thanks to the emphasis on AI, manufacturers may begin to actively equip their smartphones with 16-24 GB of RAM.

However, a significant increase in memory prices, as well as the still missing scenarios for local AI that will run directly on smartphones, will lead to the fact that next year manufacturers will not actively increase the amount of memory. In particular, Samsung and Apple can leave everything as it is now.

This means that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will each receive 6 GB of RAM, and the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will each receive 8 GB. Samsung’s new generation flagships will have 8 or 12 GB of RAM.

It is likely that other manufacturers will not rush to increase volumes, and this, in turn, may slow down the development of local AI on smartphones.
