Apple has finally introduced AirTags wireless tags. They will make it easy to find keys, wallet or escaped pet

The premiere of Apple AirTag wireless tags was expected in September last year, and then sequentially in October and November, but Apple decided otherwise, and their official announcement took place only today. Nevertheless, in reality, the novelty turned out to be even more interesting than rumors said about it.

Apple AirTag is the same beacon as the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and Galaxy SmartTag + introduced in January. Formally, the AirTag turned out to be even slightly cheaper than the Galaxy SmartTag ($ 29 versus $ 30), and at the same time supports Ultra Wideband technology by default for more accurate positioning, while the Samsung device supports UWB technology only in the Galaxy SmartTag + for $ 40. …

The Apple beacon is built on a U1 chip, supports NFC and Bluetooth LE, is fully dust and water resistant (in accordance with the IP67 degree), and is equipped with built-in speakers – when searching for objects, it is easy to navigate by sound, and not just by prompts on the smartphone screen via Find My App. The device is powered by one CR2032 battery, which the user can replace by himself. The operating time of AirTag on one battery is more than a year.

If the tagged item is far from the wearer, UWB technology and Precision Finding, available on iPhone 11 and 12, are enabled. It uses the smartphone’s camera, accelerometer, and gyroscope to indicate the location of the lost item or object – with an arrow displayed (as in a computer game) and indicating the distance to the AirTag.

The appearance of AirTag can be varied with various symbols and emoji. Also, Apple has provided several types of key fobs where you can integrate a beacon. However, there are not only key rings, but also a bag pendant, travel and luggage tags.

It will be possible to order AirTag in the USA on Friday, sales will start on April 30. In addition to a single copy, you can buy a set of four beacons for $ 100.
