Apple deliberately slowed down the iPhone SE 2022: the smartphone has the same stuffing as the iPhone 13, but it does not work as fast

The new iPhone SE (2022) smartphone from Apple is equipped with 4 GB of RAM, which is confirmed by the Geekbench testing platform. That’s the same as the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, which also use the A15 Bionic chipset.

The iPhone SE with the A15 Bionic processor scored 1695 in the single-core test and 4021 in the multi-core test. It’s worth noting that these scores are significantly higher than the iPhone SE 2020 model, which scores around 1300 and 3300 respectively on a good day.

Compared to the iPhone 13, the device is only slightly behind in the single-core department, but loses around 700 points in the multi-core test. The source writes that due to the small size of the smartphone, Apple has slowed down the single-chip system in order to avoid problems with overheating, as well as to use battery power wisely.

The Geekbench listing shows that the new budget iPhone runs the latest iOS 15.4 out of the box. Apple will begin pre-orders for the iPhone SE 2022 this Friday, March 11, with the base 64GB model priced at $430. Deliveries to the US and the first wave of 30 countries including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan and the UK will begin a week later on March 18.

In terms of specifications, the new iPhone SE 2022 has a familiar design and a 4.7-inch screen, as well as a button with a Touch ID fingerprint scanner. The phone is IP67 rated and supports 5G.

Using the Honor V Purse smartphone clutch as a clutch can

The “smartphone-clutch” Honor V Purse, despite its positioning as a fashion accessory and form factor, is priced at not the most $825 for the basic version. Considering the same form factor and positioning, it would be useful to know that screen repair will cost the owner almost 70% of the cost of the smartphone.

As it became known, Honor will charge about $558 for screen repair. This is the price in China at the current exchange rate. It will also be very expensive to replace the motherboard: $274 or $342 depending on the configuration. Of course, this includes the platform, RAM and flash memory, since all this is soldered on the board.

Everything else will not be very expensive to replace:

  • Battery (main) – 159 yuan ($22)
  • Battery (auxiliary) – 159 yuan ($22)
  • Back cover – 239 yuan ($33)
  • Front camera (main) – 139 yuan ($19)
  • Rear camera (wide angle) – 149 yuan ($20)
  • Rear camera (main) – 379 yuan ($52)

Considering that this is a “smartphone-clutch”, it will be much easier to damage the screen of such a device than a regular smartphone that is constantly carried in a pocket or bag. And the prices for repairs indicate that it is better to be careful.

These Samsung smartphones were created specifically for the US military

Samsung has fully presented the new generation of secure Tactical Edition smartphones. These are the Samsung Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and XCover6 Pro Tactical Edition models.

They were first presented back in May, but then Samsung partially revealed the characteristics and did not even show the device. Third-party images showed a generally ordinary Galaxy S23 and XCover6 Pro. As you can see in the latest images, there is little that is usual in terms of design in the new products. However, the external “armor” is removable.

The outer protective shell of both devices is much more impressive than that of most “professional” rugged smartphones. And all because the Tactical Edition line is aimed primarily not at ordinary consumers, but at the military. To create such devices, Samsung cooperates with the US Department of Defense.

From the point of view of characteristics typical for smartphones, these models are completely identical to their civilian counterparts. All features revolve around protection.

The Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and XCover6 Pro Tactical Edition come pre-configured with software and custom drivers to support tactical radio protocols and mission-specific devices, including access to drone data and laser rangefinder information. They can also be connected to secure tactical communications systems and use a stealth mode that disables LTE and e-911 by disabling all RF transmissions (including GPS) in hardware. This ensures that communications are secure and completely disconnected from the network.

In particular, the devices are pre-installed with the ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit, which provides precise targeting, reconnaissance, navigation during military operations and data exchange) and BATDOK (Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit, which tracks in real time monitoring the vital signs of an injured soldier – it simplifies the work of a physician when providing emergency care).

The software defined radio interface has the ability to receive data from a third party SDR receiver such as Flight Aware or other third party frequency band specific radios. There’s also an auto-answer feature for hands-free calls and the ability to record and prevent outgoing calls, which Samsung says is useful in hostage negotiations.

The outer protective shell consists of an Armor Aluminum frame and a durable military-grade case. This is just a case, and the smartphone can be taken out of it. Actually, then all the features of the devices will be reduced to unique software.

The new app aims to encourage more people to create YouTube Shorts, a TikTok-style video offered by YouTube. It’s generally easier to make a TikTok video than a full YouTube video. The creation of a separate app also follows TikTok’s strategy of releasing a separate (and popular) app called CapCut, which helps create videos for TikTok and other platforms.

The app offers tools such as precision editing and trimming, automatic subtitles, voiceover capabilities, and access to a library of filters, effects, transitions, and royalty-free music.

The YouTube Create app will soon be available as a free beta download for Android in countries including the US, Germany, France, UK, Indonesia, India, Korea and Singapore. An iOS version is planned for release next year.
