Apple Considers Partnering with Samsung to Create Periscope Lenses for Future iPhones

Apple has recently been in no hurry to introduce cutting-edge developments in its gadgets, as other companies do. For example, periscopic lenses have been introduced in many smartphones from other companies for a long time, but we have not seen such a camera module in the iPhone 12. However, it looks like periscopic lenses will appear in future iPhones, as Apple is considering working with Samsung or other South Korean companies with expertise in this area.

Chinese source Sina reports that Apple is discussing plans to partner with industry-leading companies to improve optical zoom in the iPhone. Specifically, we are talking about Samsung, which introduced the 48-megapixel periscope module in the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Samsung’s work could help Apple integrate periscopic lenses faster into future iPhones.

At the moment, there is no information that the companies have made a deal or are preparing for it. Even if this happens in the near future, it is likely that the iPhone 13 will not receive a new camera module, since Apple is very pedantic about the quality of the components of technology and it is clearly not their style to release a “raw” product.
