Perhaps Apple will finally transfer its tablets to macOS.
Rumors about such a possibility have been circulating for many years, but with the transfer of the iPad Pro to the Apple M platforms that are used in the MacBook, at least for these models there should be no technical problems with the transfer.
If you believe the insider Majin Bu, Apple really decided on such serious changes for its tablets, but with reservations.
According to my source, Apple will be testing a simplified version of macOS exclusively for the new iPad Pro on SoC M2. “Mendocino” is supposed to be the codename for macOS 14. A simplified version is planned for M2.
I’m currently talking about a macOS UI that’s 25% larger (I’m guessing this is an optimization for the touch screen). Applications will be the same as for the iPad, the system is macOS.
This could explain DaVinci Resolve exclusively for the M2 and a patent for a future version of iPadOS with Mac graphics leaked earlier this year.
Whether Apple needs to convert tablets to macOS, even in some simplified form, is difficult to say, given, firstly, the existence of various MacBooks, and secondly, the amount of work and money invested in the development of iPadOS.
As for the insider, Majin Bu previously revealed the exact data on the iPad mini and the colors of the iPhone 12, but in this case, the information is certainly much more serious, so it should be treated with a grain of salt.
Xiaomi suspends work on MIUI beta versions for Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 5G, Pad 5 Pro and Pad 5 tablets
Xiaomi announced that from tomorrow the company will suspend work on beta versions of the MIUI firmware for the Xiaomi Mix Fold, as well as the Pad 5 Pro 5G, Pad 5 Pro and Pad 5 tablets. The release of beta versions for them will resume after these devices will be upgraded to Android 13.
Recall that earlier the company did the same with a large list of smartphones: since October 31, work has been suspended on new versions of MIUI for Xiaomi 11 Ultra, 11 Pro, 11, Redmi K40 Pro, Xiaomi 11 Lite, Mi 10S, Redmi K40, Xiaomi Mix 4, Redmi K40 Game Plus, Redmi Note 10 Pro, Xiaomi Civi, Redmi Note11 Pro, Redmi Note 11 Pro+ and Xiaomi 12X. Work will resume once these phones migrate from Android 12 to Android 13.
The free neural network Stable Diffusion has appeared on the iPhone and iPad. But it won’t work everywhere.
Technologies do not stand still, this is also true for generative neural networks that create images based on text queries. And so the popular Stable Diffusion neural network appeared on mobile devices – so far only on Apple solutions.
The novelty is called Draw Things, and it is completely free. There are no ads or built-in advanced features. It doesn’t require an internet connection to work, although you’ll need to download a few gigabytes of additional data the first time you run it.
After launch, you can write a request in English, and the system will generate the required image. At the same time, the system has several limitations that relate to the purely technical parameters of mobile devices. So, on smartphones and tablets with 2-3 GB of RAM, program crashes are possible.
According to the developer, the system works fine on iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, SE 3rd Gen, 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 14, 14 Plus , 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max and any iPad with 4 GB of RAM.
Also note that images with a size of 512×512 pixels and more will be created for a long time – at least 2 minutes, or even longer. It will be faster only on the top-end iPad Pro with 16 GB of RAM.
Finally, the program so far only supports generating one image at a time. The package cannot be generated. You can download the program itself here.
